He never sees it coming, guy gets beat down with a club (NOW WITH ARREST FOOTAGE)

Oh wow, so Sally's a real person! For some reason, I assumed that "Sally" was pseudonymic code-speak in law-enforcement circles, referring to - essentially - what you describe above. Weird that you don't really know who you're being protected from (but presumably, Sally knows that you are...

He never sees it coming, guy gets beat down with a club (NOW WITH ARREST FOOTAGE)

Two Questions: 1. What is the secret to using copyrighted background music in youtube videos? I've read that it's forbidden, and I've seen videos pulled down by youtube for violating this policy. Yet I've seen a handful of videos posted here that utilize presumably copyrighted background...

    Bunny Boxing

Eggzactly what was going through my mind;) I love how they exit stage left, them a couple seconds later come ripping by in the other direction, as if they went to the wrong side backstage...gotta love them critters

    Bunny Boxing

Looks just like a comedy sketch, run out on stage, perform the act, then run off stage! :lmao: That building and yard layout look familiar....are you the chap that was planning to build a new garage or outbuilding?

    Catalytic Converter #5 today!

That's correct, the Sawzall would struggle...all they need to do is add one tool to their arsenal, a disc grinder with "cutoff" wheel. It will zip through that cable in about 5 seconds, then just unlace the cable out of the way. Here's the setup right here M18 Cordless 4-1/2" Cut-off/Grinder -...

I feel like I need to know rocket science to make a decision

I don't have a background in computer science, or network engineering, or programming, or surveillance consulting/installing, or any of those (inter)related skills/occupations, but with some reading and help from IPCT, I had my cameras "added" to Blue Iris and recording quality footage in a...

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

Ahhh, I learned something: if I uncheck the re-encode box, I lose the option to have the BI time/date/cam descriptions overlaid, that option becomes grayed out. So, I've re-enabled the Dahua overlays and turned off the BI overlays, I tried some new clips with re-encode unchecked, and didn't...

Ultra-Jerky MP4 Exports Out of Blue Iris

Hahaha, very interesting. Yes, no spinner at all, just 256 g's of SSD and that 8 gigs memory. So you think that could be it, uh? Web surfer

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

Okay guys, a little update... The private investigator I hired has tracked down this piece of shit, best money I've ever spent. I talked to an attorney two days ago and I'm planning my next move. For legal reasons and other reasons related to effectiveness of my plans, I cannot go into...

Ultra-Jerky MP4 Exports Out of Blue Iris

Could be. But, I'm not playing these off the stick, but 8 gigs should be enough... And correction to a misstatement above: when I said "canned video player" on Win-10," that's erroneous...this new i3 that I use to remote to my office is on Win-11. But, still same clunky video player that's...

    Ahhh, I just giggly-googled VLC, open-source media player....hmmmm.....

Ultra-Jerky MP4 Exports Out of Blue Iris

VLC??? Okay, some findings: I took the suspect MP4s back to the BI machine and they don't pulse and jerk, so yes, this symptom is machine-dependent, and yes, my regular "work" desktop which I've been bringing the clips to for editing is kind of wuss, it's a quite-new i3 with 8 gigs of RAM...

Ultra-Jerky MP4 Exports Out of Blue Iris

No, my BI console is a different machine altogether, but I just played back several MP4 exports on that machine that I made on that machine and it seems to do similar. I'm going to copy a couple of MP4s onto a stick and take them back to the BI machine and try them. I'm wondering if it's not...

Ultra-Jerky MP4 Exports Out of Blue Iris

Okay, so I just slapped a short video together linking a few MP4s out of Blue Iris, and they play smoothly. I'm just befuddled as to why the media player pushes them through like crap, then when you string them together (or post them on IPCT), they look okay.

Ultra-Jerky MP4 Exports Out of Blue Iris

Okay, now I'm really baffled...the MP4 I posted above plays through here just as it should, typical sputter of 15 FPS, but not the jerking stop/start that it does on my machine using the Windows video player.

Ultra-Jerky MP4 Exports Out of Blue Iris

Any idea why I'm being plagued with this? They seem to play back nicely when I export them, then here we are a week later, I move them via stick to a different PC to work with video editor, and they look like crap.

Hello all. Just landed in this forum and I'm on the cusp of not knowing what I'm doing.

This is all very helpful, all your responses help build a composite and I'm able to paint a picture in my head how it all ties together and works.

Hello all. Just landed in this forum and I'm on the cusp of not knowing what I'm doing.

While nobody directly responded to my "is it not?" question about two streams (a sub and a main) having the same effect on the system as actually having TWO camera feeds, I can deduce by the replies that, even if it is, that the savings (or "benefits") vastly outweigh that effect purely because...

Oh, and Flint-man, thanks for your reply too. Yep, 24/7 continuous for me!

Hello all. Just landed in this forum and I'm on the cusp of not knowing what I'm doing.

I appreciate the replies. And while I got a chuckle out of it, I am clearly not the contributor to add these finer points to the Wiki and update things, but yes I realize it's all-volunteer around here, that's why I try to help in SOME way with my donation and membership, even though those...

Hello all. Just landed in this forum and I'm on the cusp of not knowing what I'm doing.

Woah, okay, WOAHHHH, MIND BLOWN! MIND FULLY BLOWN! Did everybody know this? Really? How come nobody ever says this? Am I the only one that didn't know this??? Why isn't this in the Wiki? This is nowhere in the Wiki, not in the Cliff Notes, Not in Optimizing Blue Iris' CPU Usage, Not in...

Hello all. Just landed in this forum and I'm on the cusp of not knowing what I'm doing.

Could you elaborate on this? Admittedly, I still struggle to grasp the full details and effect/results of recording dual streams, but this now has me confused further; my understanding was something to the effect of, the VMS is recording BOTH streams, but only displaying the substreams "live,"...

    Some newbie questions

Hi tormund, You should employ @SouthernYankee's allocation philosophy here: Storage configuration In short, don't write files (New) to c: and then move to Stored on e: Rather, write New directly to e: and uncheck clip age, then set the drive size appropriately to delete the oldest first to...

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

I just got back from my first meeting with the P.I. He's confident that as long as the guy's name isn't "John Smith" or such, he should be able to pinpoint his address (again, CA won't release addresses, just names, then a skip-trace must be performed). We'll take it from there. He also said...

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

"Uncheck the re-encode box." Ahhh, will do, thanks for that. Restraining order: my understanding at this point by talking to several people (retired cop/uncle, P.I. reading online, etc) is that a judge is very unlikely to grant a restraining order based on this behavior. He hasn't committed...

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

Shit dude, don't be scarin' me like that...but you're right, I do need to exercise caution. I have an appointment with a P.I. this Wednesday, he's gonna hunt this S.O.B. down for me and then we'll take it from there...I have a couple of options, at least.

Build an affordable P.A. system for my driveway?

Alright guys, here's my very first assembled video, I'm kind of proud of it. All the clips are in real-time except the two LPR shots coming and going, I slow-lapsed those for readability. This is comprised of all the cams I have out front at this time. I wish the video didn't seem hazy and...

    Convert/Export Encoder Profile Configuring

When exporting clips to MP4 in Blue Iris, in the Convert/export window under Output Format, there's an option to "Configure" the Encoder Profile. Is this a means of improving the MP4 quality? I'm exporting clips to MP4, but they're kind of light-colored and noisy, not the same quality that...
