    Grinning here. Managed to see Neptune for the first time with my own eyes and some field glasses. Harder to accomplish than with the camera, but after about 15 minutes, my eyes were sensitive enough to see it.

    I think Wittaj is correct in thinking it is a layer of the lens cover itself. Were this water spots or errant paint overspray, it would also appear on the black housing.
