I have 12 of theses cameras sitting in box here that I hope to have time to setup and IP address today. Will report any POE issues as well.

You really won't need past 30fps for most anything other than specific applications like LPR. For general surveillance I rarely go past 20fps. The full 4mp resolution likely will easily accomplish what you want to do I would think?

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

I'm not sure why its not the spec sheet. As far as frame rate, in my case, the higher frame rate is a benefit for license plate recognition with faster traffic, and the higher resolution would not help that. If its just regular surveillance, you will likely want the higher quality. Its all a...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

You can run a lower quality stream at a much higher frame rate. if you choose the full 4mp resolution you can only go to 30fps max.

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

On their list of recommended was an axis, vivotek (that this camera replaced and is infinitely better than), a hikvision and two brands I've never heard of. They have the option for the cloud add on for axis cameras well.

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

I will do some testing. I honestly did not even think about the open alpr. If I had it connected to milestone it would have made me think twice about that happening. I'll play around with the settings and see if I can gather some more information. Also, I was told by Open ALPR they...

Review - OEM IPC-B5442E-ZE 4MP AI Varifocal Bullet Camera With Starlight+

@Wildcat_1 @EMPIRETECANDY Hey Guys, I've noticed an odd issue with the camera. I had it set to 45 fps for the openalpr since there is some fast traffic on this road, with an iframe of 45. Randomly, I'll check the web settings and its back to 30fps with an iframe of 60. Every other setting...

Review - Dahua IPC-HFW7442H-Z 4MP Ultra AI Varifocal Bullet Camera

Running the 1/2000 and 70 hlc. In all honesty, at the moment openalpr vs milestone lpr is not a fair comparison, openalpr blows it out of the water. About 18 months ago when we bought the milestone lpr license I did try out openalpr and it was nowhere near as good. Very glad we gave it another...

Props on the nighttime settings Wildcat. Hitting 90%+ on the night time reads, if not slightly better. Much appreciated!

Also, thanks for confirming the day/night profile switch works when it detects its darkness. Lot of the Dahua's obviously don't, so its good to know this model does!

Review - Dahua IPC-HFW7442H-Z 4MP Ultra AI Varifocal Bullet Camera

Installed the camera today. On one side note, @EMPIRETECANDY - we seemed to be missing the gasket that goes between the camera itself and the bracket, but this is definitely a Dahua issue and not Andy (Andy is top notch all the way in my dealings with him). Our buildings and grounds guys picked...

Review - Dahua IPC-HFW7442H-Z 4MP Ultra AI Varifocal Bullet Camera

Do you use the dahua utility that is floating around the forums here to switch to a different profile at night, or does the profile day/night selection work on this firmware?

Review - Dahua IPC-HFW7442H-Z 4MP Ultra AI Varifocal Bullet Camera

Sounds good. I'm getting good recognition in the daytime at 5fps on mjpeg at 1920x1080. I'm a bit worried about the h.264 and it seeing an iframe only once a second, but it seems openalpr has made accommodations for that (at least I hope before I swap this camera out). Traffic is usually...

Review - Dahua IPC-HFW7442H-Z 4MP Ultra AI Varifocal Bullet Camera

I've been running openalpr on our existing traffic cam as a comparison against milestone LPR - its blowing it out of the water in recognition. I haven't put the new dahua into service yet. Best part, for PD's, Rekor gives 2 free donation licenses. My one question - I noticed on the Dahua...

    ANy suggestions for wireless cameras?

Sounds good. Keep your expectations in line with the cameras and what they are meant to do, and you should be fine.

Review - Dahua IPC-HFW7442H-Z 4MP Ultra AI Varifocal Bullet Camera

I just ordered the 8-35mm version from Andy this morning. We'll hopefully get it into service next week once it comes in. We use Milestone LPR, but I'll probably sneak an SD card into the camera to test out the AI part of it. We have LPR's overlooking some of our busier streets for our police...

    ANy suggestions for wireless cameras?

In all honesty, I used the amazon blink 2 cameras for my Mom's house who just moved south. I wasn't going to fly any of my installers I work with in NY down there to run wire around the house, nor did I want to crawl in the attic or under the house in 95 degree heat. $310 for six cams (watch...

    Cheapest Hardware for Milestone

You'll want a computer with an intel chip with the HD graphics for a low end. It will take advantage of the built in graphics processor to make things much more efficient than a regular CPU without graphics, or an AMD chip. Up to 8 cams, it depends on the resolution, FPS, and encoding. The...

Review - Dahua IPC-HFW7442H-Z 4MP Ultra AI Varifocal Bullet Camera

Impressive on the LPR aspects, especially at that angle. I am purchasing one of these (the 8mm-32mm) version to replace a vivotek LPR setup on a busy road that has been atrocious from the start. Day time is fine with the vivotek, but its IR setup and image controls are horrible for night time...
