    not sure about Geovision but some models of Vivotek uses Sony Pregius sensors which from my testing does best at night. Hikvision , dahua, Huawei high end also uses Sony global shutter cmos ( gcmos) sensors.

    try using camera of android phone to view the illuminator to confirm it is working. try pointing your camera directly at the illuminator, at a distance say 5 to 10 meters, to see if the camera can see the IR.

    1. Some lenses will only focus visible light and not IR light 2. Some lenses are able to focus both but at different focus points ( day/night lens?) 3. Some lenses are able to focus both at the same focus point ( focus once ) ( IR corrected lens?)
