    Face detection option missing

Just done a detailed log search on my NVR for the last 3 months for my front door stationed 2542 mini dome camera, it has infact detected faces - on average 1 detection every 14 days! but on the upside there were no false positives... I think its safe to say apart from the issue of the NVR not...

    Face detection option missing

Tried as DGWASW suggested and tried unticking the A1 box on my 2385's gui - face detection still recognised by the NVR but no events actually catalogued under VCA search... then the camera died, just reboots itself every few minuites now - its going back! benifits of not buying from china sellers.

    Face detection option missing

Just got some official europe/western region cameras in for a customer so decided to do a bit more testing - checked face detection on both a DS-2CD2385FWD-I (8mp turret 4mm) with 5.5.3 and a S-2CD2542FWD-IS (4mp mini-dome 2.8mm) with 5.5.0 - both factory installed firmware unchanged, both...

    Face detection option missing

Can't see anything wrong with your setup - same as my PTZ DS-2DE4A220IW-DE which works, same as my 2CD2542FWD-IS which don't - its likely a software issue, just got to hope for a firmware update to fix it.

    New cam releases

Honestly you talk a lot of rubbish and muddle an argument to suit yourself. WPA2 is broken in the same way that enigma was broken, reuse of keys. I find it laughable that you pretend to try and get this topic back on track and then immediatly sling more mud and drag it back. We're a mile off...

    New cam releases

Actually I do understand the issue with WPA2 - should have been replaced years ago since all the encryption keys have been used more than once, but my point is that your likely happily using your wifi now aren’t you, or are you roaming the streets with a placard telling people to repent and...

    New cam releases

Everyone has security issues, Apple, Android, have a word with microsoft and ask them why they recommend port forwarding for Xbox live, uPnP has issues along with WPS and WPA2, if your using any kind of devie made by any of the above then under your logic you might as well bin it because...

    New cam releases

You’re a charming fellow Fenderman - simple fact is I do as my customers ask after presenting all options, if that makes me a 'Fraudster' in your view so be it, nowhere in Hik product briefings or the HSCA course I took the time to attend did it state that their TVI products are for retrofit...

    New cam releases

Can't say I really appreciate the insinuation that I'm a 'FRAUDSTER', you'll have to let all the CCTV manufacturers that their also being fraudulent by manufacturing TVI/CVI/AHD... Like I said in my earlier post (#6) I offer both options and show the benefits of both to a prospective client -...

    New cam releases

PoC is a nice addition for TVI this year, making the switch to single RG59 runs (not shotgun), simpler installs, easier to route cables - no seperate power box, D8T line is low light as well so cracking night picture without some of the blurry image processing found on the IP camera's that you...

Motion is blurry on my DS-2CD3345-I

in low light? As above + try a faster shutter speed, also make sure the sharpness isn't ramped up too high (i run mine around 30) as it introduces more image noise which you may be tempted to deal with buy applying more DNR which will call motion blur/smearing.

    New cam releases

Not really as black & white as that - I offer both but it all depends on the customer and budget, as an installer part of that will be my pay yes. I market TVI as lower cost entry level, still has a great picture. For a small-medium sized house with short cable runs and limited budget its...

Hikvision 4k camera quality is poor

Post some screenshots of the actual recordings. Also try H265, its more efficient - you'll get better image quality at the same bitrates.

    Hikvision Super I series

Well thats Hik for you... I'm sure the new NVR 4.0 firmware will be good oneday but yeah just spent 2 days getting 4K HDMI kit from the basement to the loft, not keen on that feature not working properly or any other smart features not working right.

    Hikvision Super I series

Intresting news! thanks for being the guinny pigs for this. I have a 7616-I2 so will probably give it a go. Can you downgrade back to previous firmware? Any negative issues to share?

HIKVISION® DS-2DE3304W-DE and nightime performance (IR)

Do these have a proper mechanical IR-Cut lens or is it IR-cut that’s always on - I have some IR-cut lens camera's that aren’t mechanical so the day picture is very good but the cameras can't make use of separate IR illuminators.

Ghosty video of moving objects and timestamp

I'd avoid H264+ and for the time being i'm not going to be bothering with 265+ H264 and H265 for me both work fine with the latter having slow motion playback on some devices as its about twice the workload for a CPU to decode. with Hikvisions '+' encoding i've had playback and time indexing...

    Hikvision DS-KB6003-WIP Wi-Fi Doorbell chime?

Good to know! thanks for the toolstation link, will pick one of those up. Do you have a link to the 18v transformer your got? I'm looking to fit one of this for a disabled person I know - has a mains doorbell outputting 14.7v AC from its transformer so might be worth taking a new chime and...

    Hikvision DS-KB6003-WIP Wi-Fi Doorbell chime?

Let us know in detail how all this works out, i'm a little confused over how the chime circuit works and how the Hik doorbell gets its power - since it only has 2 connection points and the mains door chime is a NO device?

Camera detection issue - extremely weird

interference won't 'hurt' the camera and keeping your colours the same at both ends will prevent any damage on the power side - a problem could occur if you one day replace a RJ45 plug at one end with wrong wiring at the other (missmatched), you could damage the camera or poe supply (nvr/switch).

    So ... what about DS-2DE2202-DE3/W camera ?

OP not sure about TLS, but note that the camera you've asked about is an indoor model with no real nightvision - fitted a 6 of these for a chain of small shops, they work well and 2x zoom and mic was a nice bonus for the price but they have their limits.

Camera detection issue - extremely weird

Yeah the wiring order is just wrong, you're actually splitting the blue & green pairs causing loads of signal loss, interference pickup and possibly inducing crosstalk, you may have just got lucky with the other camera's or the're more tollerant but its still wrong.

Is Hikvision DS 2CD2155FWD an EXIR Camera?

Little late to the convo but anyway I fit a lot of TurboHD... here's my take - its all marketing, just Hik's way of saying really good IR/Nightvision, which compared to most it is. The IP turret is a good example, pretty much the same thing in Easy IP 2.0 (2-line) was 'EXIR' - now the new verson...

    Cat 6a network cable

As above, it'll work but you'll have fun terminating it... Better to use it for the backbone of your home network between switches - the max data rate of your cameras is 100mbps, cat6a is overkill.

    Face detection option missing

Not working for me, got a 2CD2542FWD-IS 4mp mini-dome updated yesterday to 5.5.0 - disabled third stream and rebooted to get the face detection options but so far not getting anything after leaving it on for a day on max sensitivity and all the other FD options ticked - changed recording...
