I am also curious if the ~$100 you mentioned nayr is for fixed lens or varifocal, I would assume fixed lens since that would seem astonishingly affordable for a 4MP varifocal. The bulk of the cameras I am planning to install could be fixed lenses, of the 12 cams I am planning to eventually have...- smoothie

Thanks for the suggestion @nayr that sounds like a good solution for me. While I would love nothing more than to be able to spend nearly a grand per camera I fear my wife would beat me like a bongo drum if I spent a mortgage payment every other month on cameras lol. Thanks for the response. Yeah those are really nice cameras but they are just too expensive for me. I understand that I have to compromise in my budget range but that is part of the reason I wanted peoples opinions. It is easier to pick good cameras when money isn't an issue. Adding wired IP cameras destroys my wifi
Do the PoE cable runs go thru the area where the WiFi is being used ? in the ceiling above, under/on the floor, etc. Perhaps those PoE energized cables are causing EM interference. Get a long CAT5e/6 cable and move the WiFi access point well away from the cameras/PoE cables/etc and try to use...- smoothie

If you disconnect the managed switch from rest of the network but leave the cameras connected to the managed switch and operational does that have any effect on the WiFi ? The PoE switch (managed) could be causing EM interference with the WiFi signals? Make sure you don't have any looped...- smoothie

Not sure about the "port mapping", that could be either poor translation or a camera specific tech I am unfamiliar with. So you were able to get it all working the way you wanted right ? -

I don't know what that is referring to. You could try experimenting with the settings and see what happens. I am assuming in "the one named "Port" is where you can set the HTTP, RSTP, and HTTPS port numbers" you have the option to enter any numeric value to change say HTTP from the default of... -

I don't know about that camera model options but I can tell you that you might be able to work around the problem. If your firewall and viewing software allow it you might be able to use a different external TCP/UDP port. If your remote viewing software allows you to specify a different port... -

Could you elaborate on "sane" levels? say compared to a Dahua IPC-HFW81200E-Z which seems to be on Aliexpress for $300 to $400 last I looked, I would look it up myself but I have no idea . Dedicated License Plate Cam project
This thread has been very informative. Eventually I would like to setup 2 dedicated LPR cameras but I am still a ways off from that stage. I will have to burn some calories to figure out where to place the cams and indeed which cams to choose for this task. -

Audio out to speakers
Having two way audio from inside the house is something I am going to setup in my system. The thought of being able to do this with my smart phone while out in the world is very appealing. I am curious to see how this thread progresses. -
