DW Spectrum (aka NxWitness) on Ubuntu box?

Yes--the license fees are expensive. But the software is amazing and worth the price in my opinion. Let us know what you think after your try it.

DW Spectrum (aka NxWitness) on Ubuntu box?

Actually, I don't think the DW Spectrum client can run on a Raspberry Pi. The website says the minimum requirements are an AMD or Intel CPU. The Raspberry Pi has neither. https://support.digital-watchdog.com/kb/article/623-dw-spectrum-ipvms-desktop-client-hardware-specs/ The way DW Spectrum is...

DW Spectrum (aka NxWitness) on Ubuntu box?

Hi Lowvoltage. I've never tried to install the DW Spectrum client on a Raspberry Pi. As you probably know, DW Spectrum does not have a client for Raspian (the Raspberry Pi Foundation's OS). However, there is a client for Ubuntu (https://dwspectrum.digital-watchdog.com/download/linux) and Ubuntu...

    DD-WRT anyone?

Hi BruceWayne007, I followed the video and got everything working. So I don't know what to tell you. You've probably already seen this, but just in case... There's WireGuard documentation on the DDWRT forum: DD-WRT Forum :: View topic - WireGuard guides and documentation If you're still having...

    DD-WRT anyone?

To setup Wireguard on my DDWRT router, I followed the steps laid out in a YouTube video by DevbaseMedia. He walks through all the steps you need to do. It is pretty simple. I haven't tried OpenVPN but he has a video on that too.

DW Spectrum (aka NxWitness) on Ubuntu box?

This post explains how I've setup my ip camera system. Like many others here, I think the security concerns associated with the cameras "calling home" is best handled by physically separating them from your trusted devices using "dual NICs". That's just my opinion--if you disagree, that's...

DW Spectrum (aka NxWitness) on Ubuntu box?

I have an update for y'all! I purchased a Minisforum GK41 mini pc. The specs are in the link below, but I'll tell you the best part... this little box has two NICs and draws around 10 watts! Here's the link: Amazon.com: Mini PC Windows 10 Pro 8GB LPDDR4 128GB SSD Intel Celeron J4125 Processor...

DW Spectrum (aka NxWitness) on Ubuntu box?

Does anyone here use DW Spectrum (also known as NxWitness)? I realize that it can be considerably more expensive than Blue Iris (approx. $80 per license for each ip camera versus $60 for BI). However, I am concerned with the memory leakage issues surrounding BI. Asking users not to update...

    DD-WRT anyone?

I did something very similar. I've got an old Linksys router running DD-WRT as a wireless bridge to connect my FLAC music server to my router. Although I'm still learning a lot about networking, I am a big fan of DD-WRT.

    Anyone using VLANs?

Here's the list of supported routers for the latest version of DD-WRT. I'm not sure the exact model number of your ASUS, but there are about 15 of them.

    Anyone using VLANs?

If your old router is compatible with DD-WRT, you could flash your router with it and then set up a vlan. Then you could use iptables to set up rules on what the vlan can access.

    DD-WRT anyone?

Does anyone here run DD-WRT on their router? I'm using a Netgear r7000 that I flashed with a recent version of DD-WRT. It's running a WireGuard VPN server that allows me to access my Blue Iris box when I'm away from home. Just curious if anyone else here has gone down that route (no pun intended).

    Router recommendations

I am using a Netgear r7000 (US$150) with DD-WRT v3.0-r46177 std. DD-WRT allows you to run a WireGuard VPN server on the router which is faster than an OpenVPN server. WireGuard is super easy to setup too. I connect to my router remotely using WireGuard and then I can access my entire home...
