    4.6.4 - October 21, 2017

I experimented with the "limit decoding" feature and found that while it was successful at bringing the system utilization down from ~50% on average to as low as 25% on average, it definitely caused playback issues with live view using the default.htm view through Internet Explorer and UI2.htm...

    Version 4.5.8.5

Alright folks, I think I've found a possible solution to this problem. On my particular setup, I had everything configured correctly according to Ken: 1. Blue Iris General Web options were correct, showed my correct WAN IP, and the port Blue Iris was using was opened via my firewall 2. Blue...

    Version 4.5.8.5

From my experience, SMS alerts are delayed by 30s - 1 minute with my setup. (Gmail SMTP -> T-Mobile for the SMS). I enjoy the instantaneous nature of the push notifications. Really, it's just about fixing a problem that has an esoteric solution.

Indeed. I tried Ken's proposed fixes and no success with pics with my push notifications. I'll contact him and continue troubleshooting with him.

    Version 4.5.8.5

I emailed Ken asking about the lack of pictures on push notifications, and here is what he said: On my home setup, I previously was using Blue Iris behind a reverse proxy. I was also plugging in my FDQN into the WAN interface info on my Blue Iris app. In accordance with Ken's advice, I've...

    Version 4.5.8.5

Good tip. After never having the push images come through, I was pretty resigned to just lacking the feature. Then I installed Blue Iris on a different system with a working configuration to receive regular Apple push messages, and those don't even come through! Test pushes work fine, but actual...

Intel i5 6500 and number of cameras

Leaving the console open at 10 fps, then closing RDP will allow UI2 to pull the correct CPU usage from Blue Iris directly. It is exactly as I reported above.

Intel i5 6500 and number of cameras

I just fired up an RDP session to the computer running BI and reconfigured it to do live display at 10 fps. CPU use bounced between 64-71% with 13-14 cameras recording all at once. Then I exited RDP and fired up UI2. UI2 reports 57-64% use with the console open @ 10 fps. Then I closed the...

Intel i5 6500 and number of cameras

Fair point, but I find the Blue Iris iOS app and UI2 through any web browser are more convenient for my needs. Strangely, I see a fair number of people recommend not to use the console, and to set the console FPS low to reduce CPU overhead. I figured that's what makes Blue Iris so great - that...

Intel i5 6500 and number of cameras

BI runs as a service with console closed at all times. With console open, frame rates are 4 or 5 fps (can't remember). Cams cap at 10 fps. All direct to disc.

Intel i5 6500 and number of cameras

I'm doing 24 3-4 MP cameras on a i5-3570k (running at stock speeds). Cameras are motion activated and are not recording 24/7. CPU use with this setup is a constant ~46-50%. You should be able to get away with similar using an i5-6500.

    4.5.9 - July 20, 2017

Still no pictures here. Not when I'm home on Wifi, not when I'm out on LTE. At home I use a non-standard port, outside the LAN I use a reverse proxy to hook up to Blue Iris. With my setup all other Blue Iris features work fine. Motion push notifications are received within 1-2 seconds, but they...

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

@bp2008 I can confirm UI2 works great through the reverse proxy. Thank you! Although now people can't use a different folder, that seems like no big deal considering UI2 has always been able to exist flawlessly next to the stock interface, right? I definitely appreciate your attention and...

Oh I see, I misunderstood then. I would think that maybe the virtual setting is bugged. Did you ever get in touch with the BI dev to ask about it? As I said above, I think it's definitely a BI problem because even mobile.htm is broken when using a virtual path.

Thanks for posting your configuration. It was very similar to my own, but even after adding the couple lines mine lacked, I still can't get UI2 to fully load correctly. One big configuration difference I noticed is that you have your location as just <yourdomain>/, whereas my location is setup...

    Version 4.5.8.5

For me, sometimes yes. It's not stunnel HTTPS, but rather a reverse proxy via nginx. The Blue Iris app works fine to connect through the reverse proxy and the push notifications also come through fine. However, when I'm home I just connect via the local (LAN) IP of the Blue Iris server. No...

    Version 4.5.8.5

I can't for the life of me get the Image Preview to work with iOS push notifications. I tried removing the devices from the Mobile Devices section and re-adding them, but still just the regular notification comes through. There's no obvious setting in Blue Iris I'm missing to get this working...

Thank you! I also run nginx on a Hyper-V VM, and although it might be a configuration issue on my end, I'm inclined to believe that it might be the SSL that's mucking things up. I noticed you don't use SSL, right?

Weird. From UI2.htm I get: Loading Web Content OK Checking Session Status OK Loading Server Status BUSY Loading Camera List BUSY Then Unable to contact Blue Iris Server pops up at bottom. Would you mind posting your reverse proxy settings you have that work for you?

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

@bp2008 - I noticed a few pages ago some talk about issues with hiding Blue Iris behind a reverse proxy. Did these ever get solved for using UI2? The problem does seem to lay on Blue Iris, because even the mobile.htm page fails to come through with a pretty standard nginx reverse proxy...

Is a VPN as critical if you only access cameras via Blue Iris Web View?

Here's my nginx.conf code that lets me reverse proxy Blue Iris. I was mistaken earlier though - UI2 does not work reliably through a reverse proxy, though the Blue Iris iOS (and I assume Android) apps work fine. Obviously modify the settings below to match your setup: location ~...

Is a VPN as critical if you only access cameras via Blue Iris Web View?

Works fine. I'll post my Nginx config when I get home. The reverse proxy is even working fine through SSL, giving Blue Iris SSL without needing stunnel.

Is a VPN as critical if you only access cameras via Blue Iris Web View?

In my opinion, the safest way to expose Blue Iris to the internet is by setting up a reverse proxy. A reverse proxy exposes just HTTP or HTTPS ports (80, and 443) and doesn't give an attacker much of an idea what's behind those ports, reducing their ability to direct an attack against specific...

Also, the unintended side effect of you having me muck around with the txt configs is that I setup the defaults for UI2 to be just the way I like it, for all users, which will even help me on that occasional moment that I need to clear browser cache manually and would have to redo my UI2...

Ok, I finally got your code working by dropping it into the overrides_templates file and renaming it. The good news is, your code works fine. The bad news is, SetPoint is still causing uncontrollable scrolling in Edge. Without your script, a single mouse wheel scroll (that would scroll 3 lines...

Script doesn't seem to have any effect. I tried in Edge and Chrome, and even if I input values as high as 500ms, zoom still works the same on both browsers. I tried using ctrl reload to clear the cache, and I also used private browsing windows to make sure the cache would be reloaded, but no go.

Perfect. I only use UI2 on my work computer, and I'm about to be done working for the day pretty soon, but I'll commit to testing anything you'd like tomorrow.
