there are plenty of images and comparisons here you can search for. I have both of them and the IR on the DS-2CD2T42WD compare to the other is like "night & day" ... a little joke there . ha-ha . But it´s true the IR is way better spread out . and for the distances that is stated . perhaps... -

and if this is your first camera . After a while when you have tried out IVMs you will see that it works ok actually once it is set up properly . ... but probably a bit later on you will realize that a standalone NVR or BI is a way better option at least =D .. but do that later :) -

if you got a computer running it seems like a much better idea to run Hikvisions IVMS , or a program called BI (Blue Iris, I would guess it is a bit overkill for only one camera, but there are plenty of people here who adore BI and will try to convert you into that religion =D . Anyway my... -

based on this that you wrote in your first post: "English Version IP Camera V5.3.3 Multi Language DS-2CD2342WD-I" I think that your camera is not a real English version. So I would advice not to upgrade it . unless you are sure about your serial number on your camera ? -

hmm ok. Excuse my ignorance about Dahua here since I was indoctrinated into Hikvision from the start =D . Can I connect a Dahua with mic and get it to record properly in my Hikvision NVR or will I only get the Video working ? -

How does the 2342 compare to the dahua IPC-HDW4431C-A for example? Pros cons. Or which model would be the equivalent from dahua? I only got a bunch of hikvision cams so far but it would be nice to try some dahua if it just as good or maybe even better. Thanks for your help Sent from my... -
