Why does my camera connect to 52.4.144.217

Is it an Amcrest cam (apparently it's an Amcrest site)? It may be checking for firmware updates, or be a service they have to provide access to the cam via the web. I've had a few cams over the years which do this sort of thing by default, which is why I now have all of my cams blocked from...

5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

I tried many different combinations of resolution and bitrates, it didn't make any difference. Same with different power supplies and cables. I'm still not sure it isn't something to do with my configuration of BI, because changing the BI receive buffer affects the frequency of the dropouts...

    Z-Wave module for RaspBerry Pi

Yes, I agree, given the price, the one I have is likely to be the only one for some time.

    Z-Wave module for RaspBerry Pi

It's a good amount of light for a smallish room Bill, but I wouldn't say it's bright enough for a large room on its own. I'm using it as a desk lamp and most of the time I have it dimmed quite a bit. An extra bonus I've found with it, is that I really helps improve the range of the Z-Wave...

    Z-Wave module for RaspBerry Pi

I have one those. It works very well with the PI/Domoticz/Z-Stick combo. The only issue I've found is that the 30 gazillion colors aren't available, but the basic white, red, green, blue, purple, yellow... + dimming is all good. BTW; thanks to @nayr for the intro on these forums to all things...

How Do I Add/Create an Audio Only Camera

You can add the camera as usual, but not record anything from it, then set another cam to use and record that camera's audio.

Ken (BI developer) is aware that users want dewarping, and is considering adding it. The more people who contact him asking for it, the more likely it will become a reality.

The Good, Bad and the Ugly - The Ali Express Seller Thread

It's not nonsense at all. In fact it's even clearly stated in the AE help centre. Maybe you're the one who should be checking the facts before providing misleading information and having a go at others. http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/cs6SXdSu Therefore, if the seller doesn't like the...

The Good, Bad and the Ugly - The Ali Express Seller Thread

The sellers get to decide which ratings and reviews are displayed on their product pages. That's one reason why so many purchases remain without the star rating and any associated comment; the seller didn't want it displayed. I don't know if it's correct or not, but I have also heard that...

The Good, Bad and the Ugly - The Ali Express Seller Thread

I have bought a few Dahua cams from here, including one directly from them (not through AliE). They have all been genuine Dahua and the service very good. They say they can get any Dahua gear, so contact Jim if something isn't listed. http://www.aliexpress.com/store/1776152

Mini PTZ v2: 4x optical zoom version

Beat me to it. :) If the Huisun 4x is performing poorly in low light, the good low light performance of the Dahua might more than make up for the not as powerful IR.

Mini PTZ v2: 4x optical zoom version

I have 2 of these, from that store. The cam is really good, and the store has been good to deal with too (genuine Dahua also). It's important to keep in mind that the camera is not weatherproof though.

What IR illuminator would be best?

I run some 940nm out the front of our place too (including the one in the above pic). They do the job well, and are pretty much invisible to the eye, but they need to be pretty powerful to do the job. As a rough estimation I'd say with most of the cams I've used them with over the years a 940nm...

Auto Zoom IP camera advice please.

Great camera, but worth noting that it doesn't do auto tracking, and isn't weatherproof.

What IR illuminator would be best?

Overall the white light it better, but you should be able to configure the camera to eliminate the glare/whiteout of faces. There's a lot of IR in the view of that camera, from there and other cams/illumniators, but to look at the image at night you'd wonder why it appears quite dark, until...

What IR illuminator would be best?

Speaking of a car with its headlights on; I use a Wurton mini light bar (intended for 4X4s), with a 12v adaptor plugged into a remotely controlled switch as a driveway security light. It's a very concentrated, powerful spotlight, indestructible and cheaper than any equivalent high-quality...

What IR illuminator would be best?

White IR? I think you'll find all of the references to 'white light' are normal, visible spectrum white light. In which case using these lights achieves the same that @nayr is with his system.

Mini PTZ v2: 4x optical zoom version

I have a gen1 4x 1.3MP and the zoom is exactly as you describe, much slower than 10x and noisy. It's also pretty hit and miss as regards auto-focus, lets hope these have at least improved on that.

Motion Detection - Oject size exceeds

It's certainly drastically changed the behaviour of motion detection for me, even if I change nothing and if it was a default previoulsy. For instance, I can now walk in front of a cam, momentarily obscuring it completely, that I only want to detect motion in a mask at a distance (relatively...

Motion Detection - Oject size exceeds

Camera properties -> Motion/Trigger -> Object detection - Edit: Reset detector when: Object size exceeds Maybe I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but I have only just noticed this setting. I have however noticed that when the cams switch from day to night mode they no longer set of a motion...

Choppy vs Smooth Video -- bvr vs MP4

This is an interesting one for me too beepsilver. For a while now I've noticed most of my cams (16 non-hidden, all DTD BVR) live-view and recordings had started showing the same sort of choppy behaviour your BVR vid does (sometimes much worse). One cam in particular was worse than the rest, so...
