    Generally speaking, a DVR is coax based while a NVR is ethernet based. You have several options. Search the forum. You can buy a Dahua NVR or utilize a PC and install Blue Iris.

    VPN is more secure. The concensus on this forum is that it is paramount. I don't necessarily agree. In any event, you should be able to use your existing gateway and disable the router function (bridge mode). You would then buy a new wifi router (Asus is a good option) and manage your traffic...

    At the price point you're looking at, you're going to get what you get. I haven't messed with Foscams in years. I don't think there are any US distributors any more. The Amcrest I posted has pan and tilt and should use your existing mount.

    Those cameras are pretty low end. I would check the signal from your access point. I've deployed Amcrest wifi and they are pretty stable provided you signal is strong. Don't connect to 5G.
