Ordered Sony SNC-VB770 Image Sensor Size 35MM :)

I figured. I also figure that if it's going to fail it'll likely be in the first 70 hours. I bought my two spotters, SNC-VB635's, open box as well 7 years ago and they've been flawless. Same user interface as the 770 plus some additional features. Funny thing is I bought that's 635s for $300...

Ordered Sony SNC-VB770 Image Sensor Size 35MM :)

Just ordered the 770 with the 24-70 mm lens for $2K on ebay. Claims to be a new open box unit. Should be here next week. Do these units have any sort of usage hourly odometer so you can tell if it's really been used or not?

Ordered Sony SNC-VB770 Image Sensor Size 35MM :)

I know we're not comparing apples and apples, but one thing the Hikvision does incredibly well is it can spot adjust the exposure of things like headlights so no matter how bright and direct the headlights are, front license plates are always visible.

Ordered Sony SNC-VB770 Image Sensor Size 35MM :)

That is stunning. Your shutter speed is really fast. In my case, I'm at the bottom of a cul-de-sac, so I wouldn't need shutter to be as fast so I could close aperture some increasing DOF. I have two Hikvisions that track but they miss about 20% each which leaves about 5% of the time that...

Ordered Sony SNC-VB770 Image Sensor Size 35MM :)

Never mind. Answered my own question. It has motorized iris control with full auto, shutter priority, and iris priority. In looking at the sample videos, there's a lot that can be done to tune this if you want good number plate capture. Set auto gain to max, close iris to about f4, decrease...

Does this mean you have to set the iris as well? If so, then you can't use it for day and night without adjusting it. It must have auto iris.

The light above the garage is probably 100x brighter than you need to get clear pictures at night. Look at all the samples on youtube in fields in complete darkness with just starlight.

Warning Blue Iris Update 5.5.9.4 Might Kill DeepStack

Thanks. I just upgraded to the latest 2022 release without uninstalling the 2021 release and it's all working again :)

Warning Blue Iris Update 5.5.9.4 Might Kill DeepStack

I updated to 5.5.9.6 from whatever I had about 3 months ago (which is the last time I updated) and DS completely stopped working. Rebooting the entire PC made no difference. Installing to the latest stable update 5.5.8.2 made no difference. I'm currently without DS working at all. Every thing...

Hikvision ds-2df8236i5x-aelw 36x Optical Zoom Laser IR Smart Tracking $900

USA factory product under warranty until 4/2/2023 with email confirmations straight from Hikvision USA support confirming warranty status. Camera is in perfect condition. This camera retails currently for $3400. Advertised prices for this camera new less than that are probably non USA imports...

Cant get Deepstacks to recognize anything

I've never had any issues with motion detection or deepstack object recognition with any of my 5 Reolink cameras. I do have to set the pre-recording buffer to a lot longer given the longer interval between i-frames if I don't want to miss the beginning of motion events. Other than that, motion...

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

I'm going to make the videos public on youtube and point out Hikvisions response. A bit of egg on their face that they're saying the newer updated version of the the DS-2DF8236 doesn't work as well as their previous years production.

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

Hikvisions response to me is that the camera that I'm experiencing tracking failures on, even though it's the same series is not exactly the same hardware. The 1 year old newer one I have is the more expensive laser model which is the one that is failing. They said that camera doesn't track as...

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

FYI, I just re-enabled comments on those two videos. For some reason if I have them listed as made for kids, it turns comments off so I changed to "not make for kids" but not age restriction. I guess the other way is the new default.

Where did you find the release notes? Never mind. The 5.5.2 release actually has a release notes pdf but the later version doesn't.

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

There's no firmware on that site for my model of camera. The USA also doesn't have firmware for my model. It used to but it was pulled.

Can I install that on a USA camera without voiding the warranty? Will it even work?

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

If that were only possible. Not only did they disable field downgrades in later firmware versions, they don't offer firmware downloads on their USA website any more. They were pulled and now only certified technicians have access to them and even they can't downgrade. There were some rumors...

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

Indeed. I was seconds away at one point from pressing the button to update the 5.4.9 cameras several years ago and decided at the last second not to since it was working well.

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

Yea, this is either a bug that apparently still isn't fixed in 5.6.11 or it was intentional due to patent litigation. It's also around the time that a number of models that originally had smart tracking, but not advertised, had it removed with later firmware updates. If Hikvision doesn't provide...

Complete Smart Tracking failure with newer firmware before and after vidoes.

I have 3 DS-2DF8236 series cameras. These are the huge $3500 ones that have or at least had excellent tracking. Two of my cameras have v5.4.9 and track perfectly. The third has v5.6.0 and can't track hardly at all. It seems obvious that the algorithm was updated either intentionally or a bug...

Time lapse record only on certain preset?

I'm building a shed. I'd like to timelapse document it. I have PTZ camera that I'd like to auto record when move it to a preset. I don't see any obvious way to do this other than clone the camera. If I clone the camera, then I guess I could leave it disabled until I want to record. When I...

Recent Dahua 4K cams don't have POE???

Yup, 640x480 from those $1000 black and white Pelco cameras was pretty awesome :winktongue:

Recent Dahua 4K cams don't have POE???

20 years ago, when I had just 4 cameras, they were all black and white, even during the day, and analog with BNC connectors. 4 thickish cables running to a PC with video capture cards. I don't miss those days.

An http command to turn on and off the illuminators would be useful. Is this not part of the ONVIF spec already?

A good lesson for those of us who kind of automatically assume every camera is network video and POE.

Totally missed that. So it couldn't be POE.
