    No I didn't, but they did offer me the choice. Approx 60° was about right for where I'm going to use it so I stuck with the 5mm. POE was $8 extra. I needed the IP rating too, shame the turret doesn't have it. They've been good to deal with so far, but as I say, it hasn't even shipped yet...

    Only 2 should light up at a time. 2 of them are focused for long distance, 2 for closer/wide angle. As you zoom the camera in and out you should see the LEDs swap between the 2 pairs. BTW, the seetings you have in your screenshot are for the strength/intensity of the LEDs when they are lit, not...

    Why is it (seemingly) always the left edge/side that's out of focus on these cheaper wide angle cameras... I wonder if the narrower FOV versions would be free of this. What's the web interface like? Clunky or does it seem like a pro job? Thanks for the info Q!

    My opinion is a resounding yes Q, if you can get over the ever present problem of introducing anything new: making people use it. With a bit of time and familiarity with the app most people won't look back, but getting over the initial resistance is frustrating. I haven't used AIM for years...

    Have been using Slack daily for over a year for work comms. It's a very good way for teams of people to keep in the loop, and also works well between individuals. There is also a growing list of integrations available which helps combine data and communications pretty seamlessly from other apps...

    Thanks for that. I have some turrets under eaves and some very exposed to the weather, and where I could see this being most useful is in an exposed position. Turret would be preferable, so I'll be interested to see what you reckon when you get yours.

    @klasipca no where in the specs/description can I see any mention of an IP/weatherproof rating. Do you know if they're supposed to be "OK outside"?

    I was just doing similar here: http://www.scantips.com/lights/fieldofview.html So that's pretty much spot on with the 2.8mm, 1/3" in a typical Hik 3MP. Good stuff. I'm keeping fingers crossed it will rock, and work with BI. BTW, like your evolving avatar... :)

    Razer, I have a couple of 3MP turrets I rotate and then set accordingly in the web UI to get a portrait view. Would this not achieve the hallway view you'd like?

    Agreed . If there's something going on and you're waiting 10+ seconds for the cam to pan 180 degrees it seems like a lifetime. There's a reason speed domes are as fast as they are. All the same these are great cams and a brilliant option compared to many fixed alternatives.
