I feel like I need to know rocket science to make a decision

This is a perfect example indeed. This is exatly what I mean top shelf ADVICE in here. You are going to get the best gear at the best price and the know how to make it all work. My comment was simply if you do not want to go down the path of feeling like you need to know rocket science and...

I feel like I need to know rocket science to make a decision

Hey man...I was like you and started going down the rabbit hole. The guys in here are super into it, so of course geek out on this stuff. So although it's excellent top shelf advice, you get a tiny slice of feedback. For example they all recommend Blue iris. Yeah....not for me, might not be...

Can i directly connect Tinycam monitor to an IP Cam i will be buying? OR do i need to connect it to an NVR

No way man, just as you said - you get what you pay for. Sure i COULD do that, but now I know too much to be dangerous (to my wallet lol). Once i learned so much in here no way my hard earned money is going to those systems....plus I have similar already (Eufy) and they suck so bad. Going to...

Can i directly connect Tinycam monitor to an IP Cam i will be buying? OR do i need to connect it to an NVR

I didnt pick one yet. Probably the one everyone recommend in here. However i have not decided on a NVR or "system" or software yet. I like the idea of Camect. Looking for reviews on that. Not too many mentions in this forum on it, as everyone seems to like BLue Iris. But that is a non...

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

How do i control this? Do i use the software? It just seems that once i get my camera dialed in i would never use a motor again so seems lind of like a waste, but a varifocal sounds better until i learn what lens i need.

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

Are the varifocal cams all "motorized"? OR, do we use screws to focus them as i saw somewhere? I like the suggestion of the 3241 as it says varifocal, but assume this is not motorized. I do NOT need the added expense of a motor inside it. Also, is the cliff notes up to date? (IP Cam Talk...

    floodlight camera over garage

This is a few steps down the line from where i am now (i am still trying to decide on a camera and PoE switch!) but alas, is also exactly what i need. I would like the flood to be motion based and turn on once a person walks onto my garage deck. Is this another area where there are tecnical...

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

Wow, i certainly came to the right place. I totally didnt understand that was a fraction, i thought it was 2 indicators of entirely different measurements. lol embarrassing. Of course now it makes more sense. Well in my case i was looking for something less than $80. But it sounds like you...

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

I need to buy 2 cameras for basic residential use. I was comparing well recommended cameras, and know the 1/2.7 has a bigger image sensor. (seems counterintuative, but this is accoding to a site I found on actual diameters) SO the first easy question is as a general rule am i to assume the...
