How to delete or rename a group

I did this exact same thing... named a group the same as the "short name" of a camera and it showed them together. I solved it by changing the "short name" of the camera to something else. Worked perfect. Of course I still want my group, so I have no need to delete anything. I'd swear I saw a...

    Reducing CPU dependency...

I have each cameras hardware acceleration set to "Yes (NoVPP)." I'm not sure if that particular setting is optimum... still reading up on that. And I now have each camera recording "Direct-to-Disk". I have PLENTY of disk space. I just installed a 3TB WD Purple for this purpose. I seem to be...

This camera just looks like fun...

Does anyone have any experience with this particular camera, or can suggest one like it. (I'm mostly intrigued by the price). http://www.aliexpress.com/item/805-D20XB-P2P-Zoom-Outdoor-250m-Laser-IR-CUT-2-0MP-1080P-HD-Network-PTZ-Speed/32340526699.html?spm=2114.10010108.1000014.5.ShWdFC I have...

    Reducing CPU dependency...

I was using Blue Iris to create the TimeStamp graphic overlays, because I really liked being able to chose location/size/font, etc... In an effort to reduce CPU load, I recently configured all 6 of my IP cameras to produce their own TimeStamp overlays, and turned the ones in BI off. Can't say...

    A couple of error questions...

Understood, and thank you. I'm trusting the "Camera's" tab for now then. At the camera level (within the camera's interface) do you know what the difference between VBR and CBR is, and what it might effect?

    A couple of error questions...

For the record... even though the individual camera (on the General Tab) shows that it's receiving 30 FPS, the "Camera" tab in the log shows the following:
  10. JMartin

    A couple of error questions...

Oddly... that very same camera that was showing 30 FPS in the General tab... if I let it sit on that tab long enough, it gradually slows to 15 FPS: If I understand you correctly, this "dynamic" setting will ultimately adjust to whatever the camera puts out? So trying to lock it to 15 FPS in BI...

    A couple of error questions...

I assume you are referring to here: This changes also. When all is working correctly, it reports something in the range of 14.xx to 15.xx FPS. But then it changes for no explainable reason. If I go back into the camera, it is still set to 15 FPS like it always has been. This happens on more...

    A couple of error questions...

So... My camera is set to output 15 FPS... I set that camera in BI to 15 FPS... Several minutes later I see a log that says "FPS adjusted to 30.0" Now camera again shows 30 FPS in BI, even though the Camera is internally set to 15 FPS and BI was also previously set to 15 FPS. Does this...

    A couple of error questions...

This is what puzzles me... I have all my cameras locked at 15 FPS on the main stream and 10 FPS on the sub-stream. Yet BI will still boost the frame rate up to 30? (You can see this on the screen capture in my second post in this thread). I have chosen lower bitrates also, but honestly I'm not...

    A couple of error questions...

Oh.. and while I have your attention... can someone explain the difference between CBR and VBR (which I assume to be Constant Bit Rate and Variable Bit Rate)? Just curious: Thanx in advance for your guidance. Jim

    A couple of error questions...

I have been using Blue Iris 4 for a while now, and am learning as I go. There are very few BI Training resources that I have found, and the help files are sometimes... well... not very helpful. In my Blue Iris 4 log I see two things that keep happening: The first is a "Clip Write Error" and...

    Is a NAS an overkill?

I've had that very unit... wasn't happy with it for long. The USB kept dropping off, had to reboot the whole enclosure to get it back on-line, and of course that's not good. Next I went with two of these: But eventually I outgrew both of those tanks, so I just bought a huge case and moved...

    Is a NAS an overkill?

I've used USB 3.0 for external drives with Plex in the past, and had very good throughput (they're all internal drives now). There is a substantial speed advantage to USB 3.0 over USB 2.0. And I just added an internal 3TB WD Purple for $99 (NewEgg price good through 4/15) specifically for my BI...

    Bad Backwards Driver

That damage on the front fender is due to hyper-extending the drivers door... I've seen this a thousand times. Likely they had similar "backing up" problems while the door was open once also. Ugh.

Simple change of Background Color to Background Image...

Yet we have a huge thread entitled, "I made a better remote-live-view web page" which includes dozens of upgraded pages and scripts... I just thought inserting a simple .jpg file as the background of a default web page would be a simple task. Oh well.

Simple change of Background Color to Background Image...

Ugh. Thanx that worked. Which of course begs the question... Why? It's my image, it's in my BI www folder, permissions are granted (Win-10), but why won't the Blue Iris Web Server, serve it? Problem solved... just not happy with the solution.
  24. JMartin

Simple change of Background Color to Background Image...

nayr, Thanx, but I've tried every possible path... Absolute, Relative, "%20" for spaces, forward-slash, back-slash, I've even gone so far as to place copies (thinking it was a simple path problem) of the "home.jpg" background image in every conceivable location. It's not that the login.htm file...

    Positioning

Installed the additional camera yesterday facing the opposite direction... no problem at all. At that distance the IR's from the other camera are no more obvious than if I had left an outside light on. Works kinda nice actually. Thanx.

Simple change of Background Color to Background Image...

So what I want to do is simply replace the solid colored background of the login.htm file in the "WWW" folder to reflect a picture instead. I'm no HTML or CSS expert, but I know my way around notepad, and can insert a tag in the right place. I've used the "background" tag, the "background...

The Reds are designed for NAS and Servers, where 24/7 and heavy read/write (mostly read) are common. The Purples are aimed at the Surveillance market. I run some redundant drives in mine. (RAID - Shmaid... it's JBOD for me).
