    What you'll be told here is don't update on a critical system without waiting a while and checking the forums for problems for a week or two and to search the forum for a possible dropbox link to a previous version, and install BP2008's BI Update Helper software.

    Could there be a beta channel and stable release channel? Seems that would solve Fenderman's concerns about slowing down new features/releases and also prevent the average user from installing very minor releases that seem to frequently have these game-ending bugs.

    I think if these types of fatal bugs are let through so regularly, the developer should offer built-in ways to revert the version you're on. After all, automatic updates are an option and I'm sure for most unsuspecting users, that is checked.

    I am noticing way-faster push notifications as of late. Not quite instantaneous but like 5-10 seconds faster than before which is a huge difference when it comes to seeing someone on my porch.

    Have you considered setting up stunnel on the Blue Iris PC? stunnel If all you're worried about is the video traffic being encrypted (Blue Iris login credentials are already encrypted according to the help file), this might be a simple solution.

    I have auto update disabled, but I roll the dice sometimes. And being a BI user for quite a while now, I don't get worked up if I update and notice something's not working. I might still pop in here to see if others having same issue, see if it's been reported, etc.

    I've always had it send me an SMS with the attached image from our porch camera, but I wanted to test the new features in push notifications and noticed it wasn't working as of 4.5.8.2. Got me thinking it'd be cool if Ken could release betas. I'm sure there are enough people around here...

    I like dropbox but it's not unlimited unless you pay quite a bit. The reason I want an unlimited service is so I can just grab the whole alerts folder and have a pretty awesome archive of images.

    That's a really good idea but there is quite a bit of light in the garage during the day when the problem is present, both natural and overhead lighting. Edit: can confirm that IR doesn't really kick on until they close up shop
