SimpliSafe & Blue Iris (A Match made in Heaven)

Logical points, thanks. I don't have huge pets, but I do like the idea of the heat detectors in the attic and garage and may look into it myself for that reason.

I thought the sprinklers came on before the shots.

SimpliSafe & Blue Iris (A Match made in Heaven)

They must have some really sophisticated heroin addicts where they're from. The ones around here don't sit down the road in the suburbs monitoring RF or doing smash and grabs with cell jammers. 99% of them knock on the door first to see if you're home and then go around to the back.

    Listen to this!

Hopefully an organ donor. I like that shot of the house. Wish I had a place to inconspicuously mount a camera to get that shot on mine.

My latest install using Hik turrets and PTZ

Conduit looks awesome. Is it easy to spray paint to match the house? If I were your customer (totally would hire you), I'd pay some extra to have things blend in more. Maybe something you could offer as an add on? Only reason I even ask is because the house looks nice and your install looks...

    Huisun 4x Mini PTZ

Pro, A+. I love this install, how it blends and the cool location of the cam. Good job man

Well I had to put down my old PC. PS windows 10 blows.

    I got 99 problems but Winders 10 ain't 1

    Shots Fired

"if someone actually breaks into my house my plan is just to lie in wait, let my dogs take charge.. they are welcome to leave with there lives if they dont come up the stairs to the bedrooms." Very level-headed thinking there. I've never thought about the advantage of all the bedrooms being...

Running VPN on home router for PC

Nayr, I'm wondering if connecting to Blue Iris or other surveillance software is the only concern, is VPN really that necessary if a secure connection can be established. For example, I use stunnel: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/2131-stunnel

    BlueIris Setting Questions

As long as there's nothing in the setup of the cam that allows authentication to be bypassed on the LAN (doubt there even is such a thing on a camera), I'd say it's worth an email to support of the manufacturer of the cam and see what they say. Could be a bug.

    Shots Fired

Tonight at 11, paranoid network engineer is even more paranoid today after shots rang out in front of his residence, and it was all caught on his sophisticated surveillance system. Seriously though, local news would eat that up - anything a "homeowner catches on camera" these days, until...

    BlueIris Setting Questions

Have you tried rebooting the camera? I think it's still weird but that's what I'd try next

    Alternative to Blue Iris

I don't know much about the competition but I know if you're having trouble with Blue Iris, you'll probably have trouble with other similar software. It's probably not going to be a "grass is greener" kinda thing. If you were to provide some specifics about what's going wrong with it and be...

    Clip: write error 800000b7

I was messing with stuff that wasn't broke (noise reduction and VBR vs. constant) and ended up with the same error. Thanks for the post beepsilver

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

That is awesome. I could see something where you can make a change on multiple cameras at once would be really handy in your situation

    4.3.9 - June 8, 2016

Where is this feature? Edit: nevermind, I see it in Status > Status alerts. Thanks for reminding me about this feature. I need to use this

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

Wow, awesome. You probably already have hardware acceleration turned on, right? So if it holds, are you going to test putting the new cameras on the same system?

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

What's your total CPU down to after the 5fps drop?

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

I would think the effect will be negligible on the average setup regardless of how fast or slow the CPU is, but I think it's useful info for those that run beast setups like yours.

    Another CPU usage reduction trick

Would never have guessed that. That is a massive setup. Your situation is unique in that a small decrease of CPU on one camera multiplied by 34 cameras adds up to a lot more than the average user with just a few cameras, but interesting info nevertheless.

    i7 Performace

I'm very curious about this. Is there any weight to this theory that an SSD will burn out if it's being used in this way - specifically any conversations/experience around here or related websites? I've had a Samsung (840 Pro) SSD storing all of my "New" footage and "Alerts" for about 3 years...

    2way audio support?

I have this exact camera (two of them) and it worked for me for some time and somewhere along the way talking back to the camera didn't work any longer (from the iOS app). I didn't use that feature much so I never emailed support about it, but I assumed it was a bug, and judging by what I see...

Hikvision quality vs. Blue Iris quality

Still seems like something is weird w/ the IFrame in some way. If it were me, I would reset those cameras to default then delete them in Blue Iris, start fresh with settings based on common recommendations around here. If you ever build a new system, go for a recent i5 or i7 if your budget...

Hikvision quality vs. Blue Iris quality

I haven't looked it up but how old is that processor out of curiosity? How does it compare with a modern i7 from Intel?

Hikvision quality vs. Blue Iris quality

My Blue Iris setup was a bit of a work in progress for some time but once I dialed it in, I can't live without it and can easily replicate it's quality and stability (after some experience with it at home I just recently replaced a very unfriendly hik NVR with Blue Iris in another location and...

Is there such thing as a POE powered PIR activated IR Illuminator??

When the IR lights come on on my camera, there's a brief whiteout of sorts while the camera adjusts to the new light source. If your IR light is motion triggered, I'd worry it would cause you to miss some detail. I could be wrong though, and I'd like to know how it works out for you if you try it.

    Where is i5 4590 vs i7 4790 Tipping Point?

I'm a noob that doesn't split hairs (coincidentally just lost my eyebrows to a grilling mishap Memorial Day weekend - I'm okay and I didn't burn any of my skin. Wife actually says it looks cool to her and nobody else probably notices). Anyways, there are a lot of factors on that crossover...

    2way audio support?

I have some hikvision cubes it worked with. I only used on iOS (there's a little mic icon). It stopped working a few months back and I haven't troubleshooted it yet.

Low Disk Space, BI not deleting old Alerts

Wow, that's thorough info. I might pass along to Ken. It sounds like a bug and I'm honestly surprised about not seeing more comments. What is it about mine and darkmage1991's setup that is unique? I had to manually shut down my BI PC today. Couldn't even remote into it - it was so full, locked...
