    That's one possibility, I'd prefer to stay with hikvision if possible. I'm going to use a directional wifi antenna at the base station to get a signal out to the camera. Worst case, if I have to, I'll do a two-yagi directional bridge. It is about 500 feet away.

    your drive is 7.4gb. 25% of it is for pictures, 75% for video. 75% of 7.5gb is 5.625. You have 1.6Gb remaining. that's reserved for the pictures, and the overhead of the filesystem structure. under advanced, do you have overwrite checked?

    recommend you pick up a cheap tester. I did all my own wiring, have been terminating rj45's for decades, and still had a 20% failure rate when I tested the cables (which then passed after re-terminating both ends.)
