Connecting NVR to NVR for backup

I like how the new V4 firmware lets you connect a second NVR to your main NVR for backup. I’ve tried other methods for redundant backup (NAS, E-SATA) but they all have issues and are far from perfect. The second NVR works perfect. Except for one complaint... the channel names don’t carry over...

    NVR & POE Switch Question

First, YES the internal switch address needs to remain different than the LAN port of the NVR. Second, referencing your network map, the cameras connected to the switch need to hav an IP in the same range of the router since it is outside of the NVR. Then in the camera setup of the NVR, use a...

NVR to NVR via managed Switch to LAN to Managed switch to NVR

It shouldn't matter which building your in, as long as your on a PC on the local network just brows int the NVR you want to see/manage. If you want "all cameras recorded in the admin office" then get a single 32 Chanel NVR

Why Flash Hikvision Firmware Over My LaView Equipment

Hikvision has 2 versions of all their firmwares. A “Hikvision branded” version, and a “generic” version for the generic market. The generic version is stripped of the “Hikvision” branding, connects to a different platform access (Guarding Vision) and sometimes has a few features missing. When...

    New Firmware - Hikvision I-series NVR - Version 4.40.010

I get a reboot every 10-15 min. it stopped once all the cameras were in night mode. then started up again 4 hours after sunrise today. I have disabled all events, and smart events. no change...

I have no idea whats causing it, and I don't seem to have access to V4.40.015 yet. ill try to ask my...

    Abnormal Shutdown Help

I have noticed that I often experience random reboots after a firmware update. It usually lasts a day or two. Today I updated to V4.40.010_200624 and have been getting the “abnormal shutdowns) every 10-15 min. That lasted for about 5 hours until I shut in down completely. I let it sit for a few...

    Ivms-4500 cameras not showing up

I would check all your network settings in the camera. Maybe they changed during the update. Did you have static IP’s set on the cameras? Maybe the update enable dhcp?

    DS-HD1 Doorbell

I to had to delete mine from the app and re-add it to get it working again also. Your not going to get a reading across the terminals with a meter. It uses an electronic relay to short the wires to ring the chime. The device needs to be up and running for that

Where to buy/not buy hard drives?

I get all my drives from amazon as well. No issues so far. Also, only get a purple drive. Don’t use anything else, including red’s. Purple is specifically for surveillance for a reason!

    NVR and Portable Hard Drive

Save yourself the headache and do it right. As mentioned, USB does not offer the necessary throughput. Also, the drive that’s inside your portable housing is not going to be surveillance rated. Get yourself some Western Digital Purple drives. If you think about it, the hard drive is the most...

NVR doesn't seem to save changed passwords for cameras

I don’t think that’s a good idea. The NVR has admin control over your cameras, and will always override the camera settings with its own settings. It’s best to manipulate as many settings possible on the NVR, and only adjust settings on the camera that can’t be done on the NVR

NVR IP camera's will not work on one side of my house. Cannot find cause

The OP has already ruled out cabling issues. He said that he can have a camera plugged in with a picture, and simply walk to that side of the house and the Image will go black. The simplest, and most logical explanation has got to be the alien theory

Advice on NVR placement in house

I disagree. I think 4 is the best option. I’ve had my NVR in my garage for over 5 years with ZERO issues. It is high on a shelf, just below the roof. It is the hottest part of the garage. I live in California, with sun year round. The location was perfect for routing cables. I even have the NVR...

NVR IP camera's will not work on one side of my house. Cannot find cause

But your definitely on to something! You had results with the faraday cage. Maybe try different type of screening material. Try one that is steel, maybe with a 1/4” mesh

    Remote Recording Skipping/Choppy

20Mbps is not going to support 22 cameras with any decent resolution and bitrate. To get 22 cameras to stream smoothly, the resolution, frame rate, and bitrate would need to be turned down so much that you wouldn’t have a viewable picture. You need to record on site

Nuisance: Max Bitrate changing to 32 Kbps all the time

I recently had a similar situation where I was viewing a particular camera on my phone, and I could see the bitrate change back and forth randomly. I could tell that it was bitrate, not the resolution. It stumped me for a couple days until I figured it out! When you look at the picture setting...

POE NVR +NAS for cloud storage.

Hikvision is capable of doing what you want. You can point the NVR at the NAS, then tell it to “redundant” record to that drive. I have it set up that way using a Synology. Also, some Hikvision NVR’s have a eSATA on the back. Same thing, just plug in a external HD, then set that drive to...

    Problem after firmware update

I experienced this about a year ago after a firmware update. It created several users, with lots of strange characters. If you scroll far to the right to the end of the names, you will find one that says admin at the end. Select that user, and use your password. Once your in, you can delete all...

    IP# Question

Yes your always limited to the number of “channels” the NVR was designed for. Any wireless router can be configured to act as an access point, some are just easier than others to configure. You can always google the procedure for your specific model.
