    IP# Question

Yes, but you need to configure the router to act as an AP only, no DHCP. And you need to configure the internal IP to be in range of the NVR’s internal IP range. And yes, the only time the camera traffic will be on your LAN is when your viewing the cameras remotely

    IP# Question

If you want wireless cameras, and you want to keep them on your isolated NVR IP range, you can configure a wireless access point to use an IP address in range of the NVR’s switch and plug it in directly to the NVR’s POE port. The cameras will hit the access point and go right into the NVR. They...

Two cameras on single NVR port

A POE powered switch is what’s already being discussed here, and the OP stated that a second Ethernet cable isn’t possible

Two cameras on single NVR port

You probably don’t need a POE injector. The POE on the NVR will probably be enough power. Most of my cameras draw less than half the wattage each port can supply. I just ordered one of these splitters. I can report back in a few days if it works or not

Just got a Hikvision WiFi Doorbell, wired everything up and its not working right.

Something else to note, it is important that the voltage rating of the mechanical chime match the transformer. Let’s say you have a chime rated at 12V, and you install a 14,16,18,24... volt transformer, that could cause the humming.

Hikvision OEM NVR - Flashing firmware experiment

I’ve had some luck with this as well. I had an old trendnet NVR laying around that I knew was made by Hikvision because there was a Hik number printed on the circuit board. I found what Hik model most closely matched the specs and I was able to load the Hik branded firmware on it! It even...

Hikvision NVR how to name ONVIF cameras?

I’ve never had trouble naming a camera using ONVIF... just a thought, in the camera adding section, is the protocol set to ONVIF for that cam?

Use cases for AI NVRs in a home setting?

To the OP, I’m using AI simply to avoid false alarms with motion detection. I have a particular camera that was set to trigger a security light, And I kept getting false alarms. I tried changing to line crossing and that helped to reduce the alarms, but didn’t eliminate it. I changed out the...

    Hard Drive setup for NVR

No, it is not random at all! They take turns filling the drive. If you have 2 weeks of footage, that would mean that each drive sleeps for a week at a time. The drive only wakes when it’s that drives turn to use, or if you enter “playback” in the NVR the drive will wake to access the footage on it.

    Hard Drive setup for NVR

The advantage is reliability from a maintenance standpoint. A drive that is allowed to sleep half the time, will end up more than doubling its life. (Less chance of a failure) I understand that the OP was asking about performance and my advice was more “general”, but it was meant as “good...

    Hard Drive setup for NVR

My advice has 2 parts. 1: get the largest drive the NVR will support. Storage is cheap up front, but expensive when you realize you need more storage and have to replace a drive later. 2: yes there is an advantage to having 2 drives. There should be an option to allow the hard drives to...

    Hikvision NVR NAS Configuration

First, set your hard drives to grouping, not quota, then set your NAS drive to redundancy, then you have to select which cameras you want to redundantly record. You can do that by going to the schedule settings, hit the advanced tab, then check “redundant record” again, do that for each camera...

NVR decoding capability and live view

I’m not sure I understand what your trying to clarify. City of industry is in California... I’m in California, my supplier is in California, and occasionally when I’m at my suppliers office we will call his contact at Hikvision (in California) with questions or firmware requests.

Hik Connect on Android - got home wifi access, but how to add mobile internet (data) access?

That’s correct, if you have a static IP, then you don’t need a ddns service. However, it’s one or the other. You don’t need to setup both port forwarding AND the cloud service. I personally prefer port forwarding. (No need to point out the risks. I already know) the performance is way better...

Either use port forwarding and a ddns service, or use the Hikvision cloud service and sign in on your hik-connect app

    Hikvision DS-7716NI-SP/16 HELP PLEASE

Why do you want stealth? In my opinion, the first job of a camera is to act as a deterrent and hopefully prevent the crime to begin with. Mount that camera in the wide open for everyone to see!

    Hikvison network issues

Are you forwarding the http port? Use an outside number other than 80 such as 81, and forward that port to internal port 80 at the IP address of the NVR. Then be sure to specify that port when outside of the network. You should ad “:81” At the end of your ddns address

How to understand the magic of bitrate

It’s hard to say that you won’t see a difference with higher bit rate beyond a certain level... as others have stated, it’s really up to each ones needs. I can create a scenario for you where you can in fact see a difference in clarity all the way up the the max supported bit rate of a...
