    Amazon/hikvision

Why not buy from Aliexpress? I've had good luck so far. Then again, I had good luck with Amazon too. I ordered through Zoneway.

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

I'm actually still surprised, considering it's a 2.8mm lens, that one cannot adjust the focus on these. I took the dome off and the results were the same image-quality wise, making me think it's the focus of the lens rather than the dome. Everything is razor sharp when objects are decently...

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

I blocked it off, and with the garage door open it definitely makes a difference for everything directly around those windows. So that works, thanks! Not perfect, but a definite improvement. The only problem now is that I cannot leave the windows blacked out as my cameras will be in IR mode...

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

You're right, but I wanted to eliminate it. Just swapped the 25 foot cat6e with a 100 foot cat5e and the same image quality. It has to be about the way the objects are positioned in the garage. Either way, it's really bothering me...

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

I took the dome off, and have exactly the same results. I feel like it worked perfectly when I first configured it in my office, and then when I was initially installing it in the garage. But something happened along the way between then and the final install that degraded the quality. I...

    Questions about the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I

Just watched your video. Quality seems fantastic, and indeed better than the 2132 I have. Now you have me tempted on buying one, although I still prefer the way the 2132 looks. Bit more stealth.

If I'm using something like Sighthound, would I still need an SD card in the camera?

Re: If I'm using something like Sighthound, would I still need an SD card in the came Not a problem. It's definitely a fun hobby, and I'm having fun as I'm learning about all this new technology.

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

I was afraid for that answer. This is a 2.8mm lens, and the objects furthest away are less sharp than objects closer by, which are brutally sharp. I put my face in front of the camera yesterday when I was cleaning the dome and you should see every single strand of hair on my hand individually...

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

Here is a crop of what I'm referring to... The helmets don't look sharp and there a substantial amount of noise on my red cabinet.

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

So I took off the dome, and still not as sharp as I want it to be. Could it be that I've gotten spoiled by the quality of the DS-2CD2032 and that I'm expecting too much from the DS-2CD2132F-IS?

    DS-2CD2132F-IS sharpness issue

Let me do a bit more research first. I was looking at footage from when I first installed it, and everything looked MUCH sharper throughout the entire picture. Not sure what happened between then and now, but perhaps the dome cover is the culprit.

Looking for a cheap wifi camera

I think the Hikvision DS-2CD2432F-IW would fit the bill. It has a MicroSD slot (up to 64GB), is built for indoor use and has WiFi. Are you interested in watching the camera live, or looking at past recordings? I think (but don't quote me) you can log on to the camera itself and access the...

If I'm using something like Sighthound, would I still need an SD card in the camera?

Re: If I'm using something like Sighthound, would I still need an SD card in the came The Sighthound software is top notch when it comes to detecting motion. I like the fact that it's intelligent enough to tell me if it's a human being, for example, and I can be warned if a human has entered...

I know I am replying to my own comment, but I had this thing installed in less than one minute. Works great. I put a thermometer next to it to monitor the temperature since it's in the garage.

What style drywall anchors are best?

So I bought these, and ended up not using them because they were slightly overkill. But I just could not for the life of me figure out how to screw the screw into the anchor that does into the drywall.

If I'm using something like Sighthound, would I still need an SD card in the camera?

Re: If I'm using something like Sighthound, would I still need an SD card in the came Sighthound does not have this for some reason (very strange). It will show you on one very large image one camera, and then in smaller image the other cameras. They all are live though. But I would like...
