    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Depends on your use case. You can just use full blown Video Metadata by itself in non-Acupick mode + Motion Detection IF you really want it. Personally I would stay clear of MD + SMD and instead as you know, I advocate for Video Metadata or now, AcuPick.

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Yes, they do support it just not implemented / purposefully disabled in current FW. Couple of ways you can see this: Throw on AcuPick as an example, go into your NVR of choice (I currently have these hooked into both EI's and XI's) go into AI Settings (on EI) or AI / Parameters on XI. Then go...

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Yes these are great cams, always enjoy them BUT I don't like the mounting options they went with on design. Cameras themselves are fantastic BUT if they built them to interface with regular PFA square mounts OR even had mounting kits to allow mounting into those, would be ideal. Yes there are...

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Adding in an EI NVR into this mix is a big benefit. If you want to go further then using something like an XI (which I use in addition to EI) takes it to another level. All depends on use case, budget and your choice of ecosystem for NVR, with its middleware based, software NVRS (BI etc) or...

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

The Video Metadata streams actually can contain plate information. It’s down to implementation of video metadata that makes the difference. Therefore depending on cam, FW implementation etc there's not always a need for using NVR processing (for NVR's that feature it). There are Dahua cams with...

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Yes the S3 cams are very capable and offer functionality and flexibility that allow the use of Acupick vs vanilla IVs on a camera by camera basis. The addition of Video Metadata as I mentioned up front, is a key win on these and other cams that feature it. If you have AI enabled NVRs like...

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Well as I mention all the time and show, you definitely need to adjust the camera away from Auto for exposure etc but with regards to true aperture, you’re limited by the max offered by the lens, in this case 1 1/8. When I mention IT adjustments I truly mean just that, IR light and associated...

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

Yes I may do a comparison video once done with the other reviews. As I mentioned, the image from the sensor is bright and the SOC is very quick. The S3 cams really are a 1 stop shop of a cam that can do many tasks at one thanks to the SOC + packing the cam with Video Metadata. As I mentioned in...
