You think you know it, you do it, but you're wrong

This line made me think. Yes, I'm setup the same, it points to the Nettime server on my BI machine. So, the time is extracted directly from the NetTime program and not the computer clock, if that makes sense. But, the NetTime program doesn't have any reference or setting to timezones, so...

You think you know it, you do it, but you're wrong

Yes. I unchecked the DST setting, retained the NTP setting, clicked save, and instantly the date/time stamp on my Blue Iris feed reverted to normal time. Admittedly, the current time, next to the camera 'Sync PC' button didn't change instantly, not sure why that was, maybe that required a...

You think you know it, you do it, but you're wrong

My Blue Iris computer, the Windows Date/Time thing, accounts for the timezone and daylight savings and then the NetTime time server does the rest.

You think you know it, you do it, but you're wrong

As I said, my daylight setting was off by one day, that was problem number one. My Blue Iris computer correctly, overnight, automatically, reverted to normal time.

Ok, as the title suggests, it doesn't matter how old you get or how experienced you think you are, stuff-ups happen and when they do it hits you like a ton of bricks; what were you thinking. From me, nothing earth shattering but it's peeved me off none-the-less. I have 11 Dahua/Andy cameras...

Power Line Communication (Ethernet over power)?

Just using the price of the Nano station, it's $247 (Aussie dollars). I would look at it from the point of how much would it cost you to run a cable to your garage? Cable is cheap but the digging trenches and filling in afterwards would no doubt cost a fortune. So, in comparison, $247 for...

Power Line Communication (Ethernet over power)?

And those 'some' would be wrong, unless you are talking about their Protect application, which I haven't used or tinkered with. I'm a UDM Pro, two Ubiquity switches guy and run Blue Iris and Dahua cameras, no issues whatsoever. And welcome to the forum @Jakc

Blue Iris - video signal to televisions - how to

Interesting. I checked out the new one, your second link, and now I'm confused. I have an incoming coax (well, it's incoming Fibre, that gets split to ethernet and coax), and that coax, inputs into a 4-way splitter, and 4 coax cables go to different rooms/televisions. The coax cables...

Blue Iris - video signal to televisions - how to

I had a quick read-up on Amazon Firesticks, like Raspberry Pi, only heard of them, never used them. Using the Firestick, is it exactly the same as if operating from a phone, that is, change to different cameras etc.? Or, does the Firestick hook into the Web version of Blue Iris and then also...

Blue Iris - video signal to televisions - how to

I've only heard of Rasberry Pi's, not had the pleasure of working with them, yet. It sounds like I might have a project on my hands. Is there a site anyone could point me to for 'Raspberry Pi 101', you know, the step-by-step guide to getting started? I dabbled in Linux many years ago but...

Blue Iris - locally remote in - best practice or preferred method

I like this, it's exactly what I want. My only issue now is I have Cat 5e cabling and the model you linked me to is referencing Cat 6 & 7. I'll have to look up the Monoprice HDMI you referenced. Not overly happy with the Team Viewer solution, there is quality reduction, is passable but...

Blue Iris - locally remote in - best practice or preferred method

When accessing BI locally, the CPU idles around 10 - 12%. (11 cameras - most are 5442's) When remoting in via Team Viewer the CPU idles around 20%. I assume this is normal. I haven't tried tightVNC but will do so over the next couple of days.

Blue Iris - video signal to televisions - how to

What is the best way to run a video signal from a Blue Iris computer to spare HDMI ports of televisions in other rooms? In my rooms I have a coax point and multiple ethernet points available. Some coax points are used for free-to-air television. What components would I need, and would there...

Blue Iris - locally remote in - best practice or preferred method

I've been using Blue Iris for about 18 months. The Blue Iris computer sits in my study where I have direct access to it. The POE switch sits in a network rack in my comms room (storeroom under the stairs). I had every intention of setting up BI and then moving it to my rack in the comms...

How to get colour back on Andy's 5442 model

I have Andy's 5442 colour model. The other day I had a power outage and now the camera has reverted to black & white for nighttime. This has happened once before and somehow, I stumbled across the setting to get colour back, this time though I can't find the damn setting. Can someone...

[ Value of UPS ] Power outage - now lost BI link to recordings

I think I tried this over a year ago but the only setting I could see was a time to restart, which I picked at midnight. I couldn't see a setting for an instant re-start or re-start after x minutes. I can't re-check at the moment as I'm not at home, will check tomorrow.

[ Value of UPS ] Power outage - now lost BI link to recordings

I can see that the power went out at 2.50 am and info from my Facebook residents page was that the power was only out for a few minutes. I turned on my computer at 7.15 am and so don't have any recordings in that period. A UPS would have saved my bacon. Just last week I was checking out...

[ Value of UPS ] Power outage - now lost BI link to recordings

I've already sent off a support ticket but asking here if anyone knows of a quick fix. Overnight we had a power outage. Power was back on in the morning, when I woke up but the computer was off. Turned on the computer, Blue Iris started as per normal, but the problem is I no longer have...

The thread I can't find is this one, our current thread. You'll see that I ended with, "Thanks". It seems like the post that I was thanking has been deleted, but that post mentioned about the icon at the top left of the viewer window.

Can BNC cables be converted, somehow, to connect to POE cameras

A friend of mine has a two-storey house and he wired his cameras in using BNC wires/cables. Anyway, fast forward a few years and now he wants to upgrade his CCTV system to the POE/NVR/Blue Iris way of doing things. It's not feasible to replace the BNC cables with Ethernet cables (well, not...
