5442 S3 series, weird bitrate issue

Yeah, that's a much harder test than mine. I'm parked looking out from the front of my house with as wide of a view as I can get it. Mine does get to a very tight FOV (faces near filling the frame) when it goes tracking at times but it's already long switched over to full stream by the time...

5442 S3 series, weird bitrate issue

I've been running it for a long time now and haven't really noticed much if any difference. I've not done a hard side-by-side trying to compare though and I'm not doing anything like LPR with that cam. But for practical purposes seems basically the same overall. Hasn't affected triggering or...

2- IPC T180 display format differences

As above, delete it and try running a straight copy of the good cam and just change the IP on the "cloned" cam. You won't have to run the Find and it shouldn't be in play in that case.

2- IPC T180 display format differences

Dang... I had this once but I don't recall what I did to fix it. Try deleting the cam in BI and re-adding it again by copying the other cam. (Set the Clone master box on the General settings page to unchecked on both after if it shows the asterisk for the cloned cam.)

5442 S3 series, weird bitrate issue

Well, you're on an "enthusiast"-type forum so that's somewhat to be expected as for any other. And with BI we do various things on the back end to lessen that like running continuous recording with substreams, triggered recording, etc. And I think in most cases here when suggestions are made...

5442 S3 series, weird bitrate issue

There are some BI "quirks," but more so than that most of us here are generally optimizing for quality over storage/processing resources so we tend more toward higher bitrates, CBR, h.264. FPS is more easily traded off since we aren't so concerned with smooth video; rather, more to capture just...

5442 S3 series, weird bitrate issue

Also will depend on the scene. If you've got a view with a big area of something consistent like grass or gravel, etc., you'll tend to notice it more. If more varied 'stuff' in the view then it may still be there but won't be as obvious.

5442 S3 series, weird bitrate issue

Switching one of mine (SD4A425DB-HNY) that was pulsing to the AI codec seemed to fix it. Haven't noticed any issues with that cam using that vs the General codec.

    Home insurance rate increases

That already is "bundled" with auto. I have Erie and they've been good over a long time with them but I need to shop it around some if up that much.

Daylight Savings. How did everyone's cameras do?

Mine made it through all good this year too. I usually have one that I've done something too and forgot about. Microwave and one car clock are about all that I have left that don't auto-switch now.

    Who's ARPing my Camera?

Take a look at: Settings > Video > Configure > Skip initial MAC... tests. If that's not checked, then BI can try to reassign IP addresses based on MAC. If that's not it, then maybe the ntopng add-on for pfSense may show it. Or WireGuard.

NewsBreak App Do You use it ?

Hard pass. But then most all US-based news apps are suspect and full of tracking too.

Selling your soul to big brother

Beyond name and address and necessary elements I've always just put in nonsense for most all those types of profiling things even before there was an Internet. And go back and forth with conflicting info to poison it. Single on one, married on another, M/F/Other, 10 kids to none, 25 to 85...

adding a new camera and one of my other cameras gets the same IP

Settings > Video > Configure > CHECK Skip initial MAC, etc. tests. Do for each cam. Edit: Wrote that wrong at first. Should be CHECKED not unchecked.

How to run cat 5e outdoor rated cable along a fence?

I just minimally buried the heavy double-jacketed direct burial cable right along the bottom of the fence. But mine is all within a big buffer of landscaping all along it and I have other lighting cable running the same line too so I'm aware that it's there and none of that run is subject to...

The rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated

Yes, I should have specified 12v above. Looks a lot different for the higher voltage batteries. Not as much of a commodity. I'll have to study up some. I'm aware of the limits to connecting multiple batteries. A lot of 24v and 36v in the boat world also. Bluetooth is nice to have for my...

The rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated

I've been thinking about building a bank for myself. How many physical batteries does that represent? Seems like LiFePO4 batteries have come way down lately. But I'm looking at them for boat electronics/trolling motor use not hooked together. I bought a 100ah for < $200 a while back and that...
