Decided to upgrade my Blue Iris PC... is this a good choice?

Not sure what Unifi provides as far as watchdog-type monitoring for devices on the net. I use Uptime Kuma to monitor inside and outside hosts which works very well but kind of a lot to set up. If you have Home Assistant running it's a fairly easy add-on.

Decided to upgrade my Blue Iris PC... is this a good choice?

Mine did that for a couple of consecutive days after I did the latest Windows update. Not sure why. Hasn't since. Maybe something else updating in response to the larger update that caused it. :idk: You can check the power settings to see if something changed there. I might just leave it...

Amcrest camera looses time and date

Also, don't know how you're set up there beyond that cam. Unless you've limited it in some way, if it and the rest of your cams can get to an outside time server, they also can get to other places to phone home or do whatever. Better to block outside access and segregate cameras from the rest...

Amcrest camera looses time and date

Yes, should be 123. That's the standard port for NTP. Not sure what "0" translates to in Amcrest-speak as far as update period. In some cases, setting a value like that to zero turns it off. In any case, it doesn't need to be super frequent for these purposes. The cam will hold time well...

Amcrest camera looses time and date

Well there's yer trouble right there... clock.isc.org no longer exists as a time server. Try pool.ntp.org, time.nist.gov, etc. Search and you'll find lists.

Comparing real pro cameras to home grade. More than resolution specs.

It's a fan club to the extent that Dahua generally represents about the best features/functionality/performance/value for our money. And there's a good close-working vendor relationship which provides various benefits. If Axis or others want to give us competitive deals on their cams with...

Amcrest ip5m-1190EW: PTZ, 2 way talk audio not working

My Amcrest cams are older but try under Setup > Network > Connection > ONVIF tab at top. No separate ONVIF user in mine. Just a toggle to enable/disable authentication.

    Blue iris over vpn

You can limit a user to only certain groups (Settings > Users > Select user > Limit to camera groups). Create groups including only that site's cameras and assign users that way. Though I don't know how hard that is, i.e., If there's some way around that if it would matter in your case.

The rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated

Yeah, at that little cost you're not even going to be anywhere close on a money basis. Even at 10X that it's still kind of a wash from when I've looked here. Need a see a lot of some other value to doing it.

Am I cooking my CPU with my 22 camera setup?

Wyze has F'ed things up with the RTSP firmware. The 'mini-hacks' is the better way to go. Or the bridge as you have but it has its own issues. https://github.com/gtxaspec/wz_mini_hacks BUT Wyze has further F'ed things up in the app now by requiring a firmware update which blocks you from...

    Door checker's with a weapon.

If you didn't know, you can shoot .38 Special in that .357. Will make it a lot more pleasant to start out with especially if it's a shorter barrel. Can step up from there.

Cam AI & BI motion detection selection and interaction

There's also a switch for Push notifications under each camera in the app. The events still will be triggered but you won't be bugged with notifications. And as I said you should be able to turn things on/off using profiles and can switch that easily in the app. Not sure why you wouldn't be...

Cam AI & BI motion detection selection and interaction

I don’t turn mine on and off much but I think the alerts and notifications are independent of the way triggered and work the same way. There’s a switch in the app’s individual cam settings to turn on/off notifications and/or you could set up separate profiles and switch that.

Pet detection ONVIF event is missing from Reolink camera

What does the ONVIF event look like? If you have ONVIF Device Manager you should be able to see it. Or if you can name the rule in the Reolink cam. Once you know/set what it's sending, then you may be able to set up your own event in that same section of BI using the Contains. e.g., If it...

Transferring BI to a new PC - deactivate old installation first?

The machine that you have is more than enough to run your cams. If you also set up substreams it will be even less. Probably sub-10% CPU. But with only six 2MP and 3 MP cams you're already pretty low load so might not be worth the bother. Hardware acceleration doesn't make much difference...

The rumours of my demise have been greatly exaggerated

Think that would be my first move as backup power. Get that in place and can add solar from there for generation if you need it/makes sense cost-wise.

What do you call these electrical fittings/plates with a little hood?

Yeah, my description was a little different. The ones that I was thinking of were made of metal like a plate or round electric box cover and the "hood" pressed out with a punch die (I assume). But same idea and the one I found will work for my purposes and probably look better. Long story but...

    MyCommerce/Digital River meltdown

I couldn't find a way to delete it directly. I changed it to check prepayment or something to that effect. Now if I go back to select credit card, it's all blank. Whether they retain it otherwise <shrug>

What do you call these electrical fittings/plates with a little hood?

Searching for something that I should know but can't come up with the name for the life of me. Picture a plate either circular or rectangular. In the center there's a circle. Split the circle horizontally across the center and deform the upper half out to form a hood and either remove or push...

Software To Track Internet Data Usage T

Does the hot spot have any built-in reporting? If it gave it to you by destination IP, the bulk of data from your home IP likely will be from BI. Unless you're running some other server, etc Which doesn't seem to be the case. Won't be exact but the rest of traffic outbound will be...

Looking for Low wattage PC or Mini PC to run BI and 2-3 cameras?

I bought a tiny little N100 the other day to use as my pfSense router/firewall. I think it's 6W. No idea how well it would handle BI. With just a few cams probably OK. Specs-wise it's more capable than the old 4th gen i5 I used to run a bunch on. Storage and thermal limiting are questions...

    Hall of shame

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever actually used duct tape on ductwork. That would be a mess after it dries on there. Impossible to get that residue off of things.
