I forgot to add...would probably have to install a fire block above the spot where I'll hang the NVR just to be safe and add vents perhaps. Don't know if this will be up to code.- Tic

I already have that. But the humming still annoys me --- to be precise, it's the 'hollow' or 'echo' effect that goes with it that bothers me a lot. I'm beginning to suspect that the NVR casing has a lot to do with this. Will try foaming the screw mounts first then putting sound deadening tape on...- Tic

I know SSDs and NVRs should never be mentioned in the same sentence, but it's not its speed that I'm after, believe me, it's the fact that it doesn't emit any sound lol. NVR from Andy's store comes with POE ports??
Fans are okay but not when the NVR is in your room. I have the 4-channel POE version with a single HDD, didn't know it had a cute side fan from looking at the diagrams, but was a bit disappointed when I found out post purchase.- Tic

I did the above steps on the 5231 and it was all good. But I have to let everyone here know ever since I dealt with surveillance cams I have always logged into them through the router NOT without it -- a matter of convenience for me -- having to carry stuff around, clearing the table... -

You missed the whole point here lol which was I was able to log into a camera (IP address 10.1.1.xx/static) plugged into a router (IP address 192.168.0.1) with a tower PC (IP address set manually to 10.1.1.100) also connected to same router WITHOUT having to unplug anything from it. Thanks, Nayr, I was able to get in. I didn't realize that both the camera and the router's IP address third notations were different ("1" and "0")...how that slipped my mind is beyond me. And yes, it's the same crap with Firefox -- "install plugin" then does absolutely nothing. Will install... -

You mean disconnect PC ethernet cable (at router end, not PC end) and plug it into the injector, right? BTW, I'm using the latest version of Firefox w/c is 50.1.0. -

Need help setting up this camera. I'm using this injector Amazon.com: TP-Link Gigabit Ethernet PoE Injector Adapter (TL-PoE150S): Electronics and can't see it in my router neither in ConfigTool. Could be dead? Injector has green light so I know it's working and I'm using Cat6. -

Lucky you. Back in our days there were no water-cooled variants. Only thing we did to improve performance speedwise was to rebore the cylinders, upgrade the rings, and outfit them with Weber carbs. -

I requested NTSCs...never got any confirmation whatsoever...never bothered to ask Andy because I knew he was very busy...resigned to the fact that I'd be getting PAL...no big deal...lo & behold...I got NTSC cams! Thanks, Andy...you're service is first-rate!!! -
