Can I delete NVR Default User account?

What use is a default user account if I'm the only one using the NVR? Can I just delete it? Can I change the '888888' user name? Thanks.

Dahua NVRs motion record with scheduled record skips frames

Odd, I'm using Firefox too but my WebUI does not skip...could be a random thing. I'll try it again to see if I get the same result. UPDATE************ Yep. Now it skips...I'll take back my 'flawless' rating from #25.

Dahua NVRs motion record with scheduled record skips frames

I have exactly the same issue and don't be quick blaming your NVR. Here are my findings when the part where motion is detected or triggered is being played: Using... 1. NVR's OSD (mouse and monitor)...it pauses momentarily. 2. WebUI...no pause, skip, or stutter...flawless. 3. SmartPSS...

Go to Storage>Record and check there. That's the last stop before the recording activates.

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

Which SmartPSS version would you recommend among the three provided by this link http://www1.dahuasecurity.com/download_2.html? I've gone through their description but most, if not, all are very foreign to me especially the 1.15 latest version, so I leave it to you because you're the expert...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

You were definitely right, this is a player issue. I did all the adjustments you suggested -- making sure all (Regular/Motion/Alarm) settings are the same -- but the slight pause was still there. On the WebUI's player, however, it did not stutter...video was fluid. Now I'm happy. Thanks. But I...

    UPS for NVR

Yes, it does...but it really depends on the magnitude of the surge and the quality and type of the surge arrestor being used...at least grounding mitigates it.

    UPS for NVR

Yeah, I remember back in 2001 I installed this APC Protectnet cable arrestor between the wall and my modem. A couple of days later, three guys from our ISP came knocking at our door saying they've been getting noise feedback from the neighborhood grid that we were on and they spent hours doing...

    UPS for NVR

I bought the CyberPower 510 watts pure sinewave for the modem-router, NVR and other low-power communication devices. I know it's overkill but at least I got room for upward scalability and sinewave for peace of mind. Be warned though, the RJ45 protection is not rated for Cat 6. It brought down...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

You are absolutely right! You only get the "Saved Successfully!" in the webUI not in the OSDUI. My bad.

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

By OnScreen Display UI, you meant the Dahua NVR's native GUI, right? The Amcrest NVR does have its own native GUI, in fact, the two are very identical -- no surprise there. I presume that you don't get any confirmation after you hit 'save' on yours too. To clarify what I meant, when I turn on...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

Private = Dahua? On a hunch, before trying out SmartPSS with this NVR, I tried once again adding the 'problematic' turret via Private and logged in using the non-def password. To my surprise, it was able to recognize it! Have no idea what happened but I immediately went to Camera>Image to see...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

Yep, your guess is as good as mine. I logged into it once again using the Amcrest web GUI (via Firefox) and also SmartPSS...used the non-default password...and got in without any hitch. But with ODM, it was a different story. I tried the non-default pass because I wasn't getting a preview on...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

It was only the turret cam that showed the Atari-ish time display. The PTZ was okay. I verified under Camera>Encoding both channels main and sub were set to H.264H. Other options were H.264, H.264B and MJPEG...tried H.264...still the same. Turret Cam PTZ Cam I did some further tweaking...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

You mean going into each camera's settings individually without the NVR, right? Now I have to use webGUIs...don't know which one to use. I am currently using Firefox...maybe you can recommend a better browser. These are 2MP cameras. I don't see why one would be different from the other. By...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

Thanks for the quick response, Nayr. I didn't do the delete and add yet...because I thought I needed to do some things first that I missed last night. Anyhow, I enabled motion/video detect in Events and in Storage>Schedule enabled both regular and motion detect recordings (green &...

Do you mean unplugging them from the PoE ports because I see a non-NVR IP address in your screenshot.

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

Well fellas...here's the final verdict: Motion/Video Detect DID NOT work...accessed NVR thru native GUI...added both cameras as 'ONVIF'...only options were red and blank in Region Settings...right-clicking would only bring me back straight to the Main Menu. So, when Dahua/Hik say -- "Motion...

    Grounding question

Ok...same room, same circuit in the panel -- that makes sense. But if the other end of the extension cable is connected to a monitor/big screen TV in another room (different circuit), this will cause a ground loop problem, right? Two ends of the cable on different circuits or ground potential...

    Grounding question

Scenario: A router, modem and NVR are plugged into a UPS that is plugged into an outlet. A PC, monitor and printer are plugged into a UPS that is plugged into another outlet (in same room) about 15 ft. away from router/modem/NVR. The monitor has two inputs (VGA & DVI) and latter is connected...

    Camera/Placement Suggestions

Folks, Re: IPVM Calculator...The Dahua camera database is lacking...When I try to put the exact focal length of the camera lens I get the wrong equivalent angle of view -- no way near the figure stated on the camera's specs -- so I gave up using this tool. I can still manage my way around using...

    Camera/Placement Suggestions

Okay fellas...I appreciate all your suggestions. Since I'm not very keen on using focal length (mm) when referring to cameras, give me time to measure the exact distance from that corner soffit marked in the picture to the mid point of the fence line (parallel to the gate). Based on all your...

    Camera/Placement Suggestions

I've been there before once but never ever figured out how to use it. If these cams are worthless outdoors, perhaps you could point out to me their other uses. I was hoping at least you would say it's workable but the image on the fringes will not be that great. Anyway, I was just trying to...

    Camera/Placement Suggestions

Hello peeps. I need one outdoor cam to view two sides of the house...just enough to cover a wire fence gate and a rear sliding glass door. This cam will be installed under the eaves at a corner soffit which is about 8 feet and a half inches from the ground (see photo and diagram). The gutter...

    Dahua NVR + Amcrest Cameras

As far as Dahua software (SmartPSS) and Amcrest cams are concerned, yes so far both are compatible (see my postings above). I don't know with the actual Dahua NVR...I have to figure that one out once I get it. But given the positive initial test results along with alastair & nayr's assurances...

Where to get a cheap Dahua Fisheye?

Yes, I've seen some cameras there that pretty much look like Dahuas plus the 3-year warranty but their spec sheet lacks some very important info like H.FoV, etc.. But I definitely would consider them. Thanks for the heads up.

    Dahua NVR4216-8P-4K & Hikvision

B&H is where I just ordered a Dahua DHI-NVR42A04-P NVR from last night...and where I will be getting a Dahua fisheye cam soon. The price of the cam is a little bit high compared to what is being offered at Aliexpress but the peace of mind that comes with it will be well worth it.

Who should I trust, DahuaSecurity or DahuaWiki?

That can be found on the sticker on the unit itself or on the box, right? Maybe I'll try Dahua USA if I can't get hold of any B&H Photo rep. Thanks, Nayr. Update: Looks like the Lite Series uses the new H.264+ Decoder and on the DahuaWiki IVS page it says, "PLEASE NOTE: You cannot use IVS...

Who should I trust, DahuaSecurity or DahuaWiki?

Ok folks, I'm getting conflicting reports about Dahua's Lite NVRs particularly the DHI-NVR42A04-P which I'm planning to get mainly because it's the only variant with no fan. According to https://dahuawiki.com/Template:IVSTemplate, only the 8 and 16-ch version of the above-mentioned model DO NOT...
