    Camera Settings Question

ONVIF stream url by default doesn't modify any settings. They stay the same as on your camera interface. It's possible to modify them using parameters.

Color difference between BI and camera UI

Is there some setting that I'm missing or should I just accept that this is how it's supposed to be? It looks to me as if there's an RGB range issue (0-255 vs 16-235 maybe?). Snapshots from camera and BI included. Camera: Blue Iris: Camera: Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-ZE, encoding H.265 variable bitrate

Disabling Windows Updates: All or just video drivers?

You can block all requests from the BI IP address in your router firewall. For example, this is what's allowed for my IP cameras on my network (no rule -> no access, default is to block).

Always impressed with Blue Iris, esp. the webserver.

If you only use VPN to connect to it (essentially the same as only connecting to it from LAN): no. I'm referring to the use case that robl is using (giving public access to BI web server).

You put a proxy before it. The of the most common options are a web server (for example Nginx) and Stunnel. You can find instructions for setting up either.

Unless there's a vulnerability in BI, no. But if he logs onto that UI from outside his own network, his/her BI username and password could be intercepted.

No https? Also, all your cameras are visible. And you'd be better off linking to the h.264 stream instead of the mjpeg one (<300 Kbps vs 4 Mbps for the same quality) << image removed >>

Automatic B/W motion sensor mode when camera switches to IR?

Does BI detect that the image is fully B/W, when the camera has switched to IR mode or does it still do its color difference calculations in the full color range and effectively requiring me to input a much lower contrast limit to trigger motion during night time, if I have the "black and white"...

    Combine Camera Feeds?

Groups, on the web you get a single stream when viewing a group. Or is your wish to store it as a single stream? If so, then why?

Planned setup when My BI pc arrives

A better option would be to use managed PoE switches on which you can set up a separate VLAN for the cameras. That way you can limit them from accessing WAN from the wirewall and also limit access from LAN to cameras to only allowed devices (if any). BI PC can either have normal LAN IP and...

A or B seems to be US vs Europe thing (ie, which is recommended).

Best Cat6 cable for my system?

Indeed, I mixed up shielding and Cat6.

Best Cat6 cable for my system?

Is even CAT6 necessary? What's the reasoning for the extra shielding, cost and harder installation, if all you really need is 100 Mbps (though CAT5e is capable of 1000 Mbps)? I'm guessing he's not going for 100 m / 330 ft runs when he was considering 7ft cables. Another thing is that the CAT5e...
