Need Interior garage cam recommendation for Frigate/Home Assistant

Did not mean to step on anyone's toes. The questions posed come across as a newbie. As such I went with what would provide the most flexibility and possibly result with the least likelihood of resulting in a return.

Need Interior garage cam recommendation for Frigate/Home Assistant

Don't chase MP's! I spent a few thousand dollars doing that! Not good! Read the various posts on this forum for all the in depth info you could ever want : ) This camera is good in daylight and at night, it is a PTZ which allows you to zoom in and out to change the FOV. I have 2 of these and...

Getting BI and HomeSeer Talking To Each Other

So the example I posted originally was for how to programmatically modify the current profile of BI. And at the same time allow HomeSeer to know what profile BI is in. And my code snippets demonstrate how to get the two applications to keep up to date with each other. This allows HomeSeer to...

Yet another VTO, Home Assistant, Kwikset, DahuaVTO2MQTT discussion

Gotta say, HomeSeer is not so much in the script weeds as Home Assistant is, but both solutions are far superior to base offerings such as Vera or Smartthings. Having to dip into scripts, due to how Home Assistant works, is a turn off for me. But I know that a lot of people like HA. If ever...

What software do you use for backup?

I don’t use the cloud. Just a PC, a NAS and two SSD drives. One of the SSD drives is always in a lock box at the bank. Choreographing it all is Goodsync. Goodsync is a lot cheaper than the alternatives listed above. However, I don’t backup the OS, just data.

    * These items have been picked up and are no longer available ** Thanks for looking HIKVISION DS-2CD2087G2-L 4MM, 8MP Local pickup in Denver area only I bought 2 of these about 18 months ago. Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

If anyone is in Denver (south denver specifically) I would be happy to pass on my 2 2087's no charge. I won't use them in the future so someone should get some good use out of them.

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Exact same issue I had with that camera. And that is why I now own Color4X. The 2087 had so many focus issues. Those cameras are now sitting in boxes in the basement.

Have you switched from DeepStack to CodeProject.AI? Poll

Same here.... when is the best time to Migrate from DS to Codeproject. AI is so new relatively speaking and the landscape continues to change fast. DS was only king of the hill for about 18 months till it got replaced entirely. Good to hear that the AI in the cameras works well.

Have you switched from DeepStack to CodeProject.AI? Poll

People being required to train their own AI for (hopefully) reasonable accuracy demonstrates to anyone reading this thread the infancy of the AI industry. I do hope you share the models you create. I wanted to do the same, but it ain't quick or easy.

I may be the wrong person to help you, so sorry. I would need to know which AI you are using and the settings that you have implemented. But there are many express here that I am sure will chime in and help out

    Hello from Miami

I ran many of my Cat5 wires, and in most cases I ended up running even more wire a second and third time. It is how I got up to 18 cameras all over my property. It is rewarding and fun. Just 4 months ago I flipped out my 16 port POE switch with a 24. I hope you are having a fun time!

    Novice Looking for Camera Help

No matter what, with the restrictions you list, you will have to go with a cellular solution. That vosker cam comes with a 7 day trial, since that is all you wanted you should be set

    Howdy!

Oh my gosh! My LaView NVR would do that! It would start beeping about every 10 minutes from time to time. I could hear it in the basement. I could not find anything in the logs or any settings that seemed 'off'. I would reboot, etc. Eventually it would 'self fix'. I forgot all about that. I...

Possible to schedule a screen shot at a certain time every day?

The quickest way is to enter 1440 minutes as shown below in the first pic. So if every day you want an image taken from a specific camera, navigate to that cameras config via BI and enter 1440 for how often you want the pic to be taken. So if you want a picture taken every day at 5pm. Then do...

Possible to schedule a screen shot at a certain time every day?

What camera brand and or model are you using? Are you using a NVR or BI or neither? Do you just have the camera? When you say screen shot, why not just grab the image straight from the camera, NVR or BI? Can you script? Are you on windows? Have you considered Python, VB or other scripting...

Have you switched from DeepStack to CodeProject.AI? Poll

Not sure if this poster has installed and used NVR as well as BI, however this statement is patently false. I specifically held back from moving to BI for 4 years. My friends had it at work but they used a lot of words that at the time, I was not familiar with. However, once I did make the move...

    I am a noob

BI is a proprietary software solution wherein you provide the hardware and OS - no mac/unix, only windows. An NVR is a hardware solution with proprietary software running on it. The POE ports are built into most NVR's If you go the BI route, you will need to purchase a POE switch that fits your...

    Looking for K.I.S.S. cameras

You want a camera that you can log onto and then send a signal to turn it on and start broadcasting, then somehow turn it off and then log off?

    I am a noob

I started with an NVR and then 4 years later went with BI. Never been happier after that move. I am now up to 18 cameras.

LaView no longer accept new orders

I have 4 and 8 MP bullets from LaView. The 8MP do well in the sun or cloudy days. At night they are vety poor performers. In your situation with controlled lighting (always on and bright), I would think they would be fine.

LaView no longer accept new orders

Blast from the past. I get the exact same error on 2 of my cams. They are of course the same cameras that you have. My first foray into security camera setups was an LaView NVR and 8 of their cameras. I ran that setup for about 4 years. About 2 years ago I moved over to BI. Most of my cameras...

Its not age, its watts and beam spread. You need to identify what those specs are in order to make in informed decision.

    4K driveway cam?

If you go with the NON IR approach, and you indicated you could “add light”, I would suggest multiple lights. In the end it depends on how important what you are trying to protect is to you. If you want the best footage, then 100 watt light bulbs on each side of the driveway (closer to the...

    4K driveway cam?

I use the color 4k in the front as I have porch lights and a street light. It barely works. The shutter speed is slow enough to capture images, but long enough that they are a tad too blurry. I do not use the on board lights. They are like mini specular bursts and are very distracting. Note that...
