    NVR Recommendation

For me I have 16 cameras. Too much effort logging into each camera to setup AI alerts. Nevermind that I would have to replace all my cameras with a brand with decent AI. And what happens when a different camera manufacturer comes out with better AI? Too much tail chasing for me to consider an...

    NVR Recommendation

I find that if there is no AI then it is false alerts all day. False alerts amount to wasted time for me. Plus, if a real alert happens it can easily get lost in the noise of all the false alerts, you just get hardened to all of the alerts coming at you. My belief Is that a modern security...

Convenience over actionable alerts. This is why I always ask individuals what they are trying to protect and what their concerns are. Sounds like you have found what makes you happy!

Pushover Notifications not working with Dahua IPC-Color4K-X

Is pushover a push notification? Meaning a push notification to the BI app? If so, I have both the 5442 and the Color 4K/x. I run BI 5.5.6.x and it works just fine for those cameras as well as the many others I have. You can adjust the image size being sent in the push notification in case you...

    New BI PC setup question.

I have a 970 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD 512GB as “C:”. This is dedicated to windows 10 Pro I have a second 970 PRO NVMe M.2 SSD 512GB for my ”D:” drive which is where BI is installed. This drive contains the database, new and alerts (I only go back 3-4 weeks for new and alerts) On average this uses about...

    Hikvision cameras secure?

I generally follow specs not brands. But as I get more cameras, the Dahua interface seems to have the most/best options so really lean towards that brand due to that. But yes, I run numerous brands at this time.

    Hikvision cameras secure?

@sebastiantombs has listed specific cameras many times on this forum that would be a great starting point. Here is just one of those helpful posts (post #3): https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/is-there-a-such-thing-as-a-camera-system-that-is-not-complete-trash-suggestions.65181/#post-692706 Check...

FYI: for those with home sprinklers, Costco has Rachio3 12 zone on sale for $149

Rainmachine did not screw anyone over. They are just pushing the cloud now. Another revenue stream for them. But it is not required at all. I can still access it from anywhere in the world, so can my wife. We are IOS and Android. Just follow the directions. Easy peasy.

Is there a such thing as a camera system that is not complete trash? Suggestions?

Cool. I was against installing BI actually for many years as I felt what you said "while great, is only for people that like to tinker" But I found that was not true. The time and effort for either system is very equivalent. But once implemented, BI pays off in dividends compared to an NVR

Have you run Blue Iris? You seem familiar with HikVision NVR for sure.

Inherited IP Cameras from Home Purchase, Can't Set Up

There is no one size fits all in the software (NVR/Blue Iris/etc) or hardware (cameras/switch/etc). It is really important to know what you are trying to accomplish. Are you covering the inside of a shed? Car? Pets? Something 150 foot away? My priority is family and my property line. So I want...

I'm ready! List them out. If they are a dome, I will replace this one and see if there is any improvement.

Hello from Eastern USA, looking to gain knowledge so I don't waste money.

I agree with this. I only have one of these, but it does very well outside in very dark areas where you can provide sufficient IR light. I don't think there is a PTZ 5442 however.

Awesome post. You indicate what you are trying to monitor, why and your goals. I think reading the various posts on this forum will help you get up and running with a system you will feel is rewarding. Protecting family is #1 in my book Hopefully you can avoid wireless cameras, but I know that...

Inherited IP Cameras from Home Purchase, Can't Set Up

You seem really into this which is so cool. Consider not going with the NVR long term (any NVR that is), something tells me you won’t be happy based on your enthusiasm and the fact that you said you are tech savvy. Just a thought!

Is there a such thing as a camera system that is not complete trash? Suggestions?

I feel a kinship to your security camera adventures. I too started with many strong convictions with what I wanted, not what the industry could offer. Consider being open to purchasing the best camera for your lighting conditions, not the best camera for your preferences based on inclinations or...

    5.5.8 - June 13, 2022 - Code Project’s SenseAI Version 1 - See V2 here https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/codeproject-ai-version-2-0.68030/

You might note that the interface (tab) in BI is the same for both for DS and/or SenseAI. So if you choose to use custom models, there is not a huge gap procedurally for either AI.

Unless you insist on a container for deepstack (an easy no if you don't want it), then there really is no "trouble setting up Deepstack". Super easy. And just as easy to switch to SenseAI later.
