*edit* You wrote starlight in the headline. Does it have it ? So confusing using the US site. Its all different. Looking at the Lux values it seems to be very good actually ! Almost as good as the 2MP Starlight but 5MP. Nice :) It all comes down to the price. I think i will wait to get more... -

Cannot Change IP Address On Dahua IPC-HFW8232EP-Z
I always log in via the webinterface (pale moon browser on pc) but i dont have an NVR yet so dont know what difference that makes. -

HAC-HFW3231E-Z is a HDCVI camera thought but mayby you didnt mean that you would buy that one. -

More megapixels will only make nightvision worse (if the sensor size and type is same). What you need is Dahua Starlight cameras or atleast a Dahua camera with Starvis sensor. Optics also matters, larger apature like F1.4 lets more light in for example but DOF might suffer in the corners... -
New Setup Questions
I agree that two cameras that share the same field of view but different angles would counter this ofc. For now i only have one camera at this location. Would need like 15-cameras to cover all angles of the house, only have 6 cameras atm but i will expand in time. -

Np, btw Z5 is a longer focal lenght lens. It depens on if you want an overview or zoomed in for faceshots for example. Z=2.7mm ~12mm Z5=7mm ~35mm -

Yeah, i meant more like someone spotting the cam and sneaking up to it from a dead angle and spray it with black paint. A dome is harder to know the dead angle as its hard to see where the lens is pointing. -

Thats great. Mine will be outside under a roof but i will put it in a IP65 box to keep it safe. Box is 190x145x70 mm so i think the POE device will fit. The device is 105x93x28.5mm- Myllerman

I agree, in a sunny spot dome is no good. Of my cameras only one is a dome. Only reason is what i mentioned above that a tresspasser could not see what direction its filming so disabling it without being recorded is harder. -
difference between these two cams
Biggest difference i can see is that IPC-HDBW5431E-Z has alarm functionality and audio in/out while the IPC-HDW5431R-Z does not but has a built in MIC. If you want to connect a PIR and mayby a strobe/blinking light you need Alarm functionality in the cam. IPC-HDBW5431E-Z Alarm 1 channel In... -

Nice, yeah i hope it works in cold too. I ordered two from Ali.. I misunderstood the specs of the device first as there was an answere on Amazon that did not explain it good. I thought it was MAX 6W /port but from the specs it seems i can do two ports 12.6W (or whatever) if rest is unused.- Myllerman

Only nice thing about domes are that its hard to tell what direction its filming so not as easy to sneak up from the back or sides to avoid it when it looks the same all around. -

I get the same problem if the cameras IR light bounces off the underside of the roof. You can try to mount it a bit lower or make somekind of a hood that stops the IR light from shining on the inside of the roof. The reflection is also throwing of the focus mechanism that tries to focus on the... -

I agree, its not that big of a deal if someone could see my backyard in my camera but a military base is another matter for sure. I would not either take the risk of a potential backdoor that could be dorment for years until some conflict or somthing.- Myllerman

Sensors used in Dahua cams
Yeah awsome work. It actually made me buy 8MP Starvis instead of the 6MP becouse of the same pixel size but higher res. I thought the 6MP would have larger pixels until i saw this. -

I think i found what i was looking for. As i dont use alarm out on the cams its -6W atleast in total power ? The specs says 300ma 12V is used in alarm out in my cams. dahua website changed?
They updated the website for sure. Dont know if i like it. They made everything larger. Big icons/pictures and less info-text under each so its harder to find stuff. -

Congratulations ! Want to say that i am very happy with the cams i ordered from your shop and it went very smooth. The 8MP E-POE STARVIS cameras are very nice ! The quality is amazing. Will order a few more of those later. -
Using ip cams for exhibitions?
Yep. 3 out of my 4cams have chinese language now becouse i had to reset them.. The English language hack gets wiped.. Sucks. Also not FW upgradable i think. I am in the process of replacin all cams with new ones from Andy with proper English FW. Also upgrade to 2 and 8mp starvis :D -
false alarms with PIR detectors (alternatives? , recommedations?)
How about those IR beam sensors that alarms when the beam is broken ? I have been thinking of using such in my yard, like a tripwire. I dont have any models to recommend becouse i have not done much reserarch in it yet.- Myllerman

What kind of detection do you use?
Anyway to downgrade to an earlier FW ? External sensors wired to the cameras are the best but i dont know if that works for an NVR. Like PIRs, magnet sensors, pressure plates and so on. -

Wow how can it be that bad, i imagined it would atleast be on par with a regular sensor 2MP Dahua IPC as its starvis. I can think of alot of uses for such a cam, no way i would let it sit in a box. I would probably place it at my porch where a cute mice lives and get some nice footage lol. Oh...
