    You will need to connect it to the network to be able to configure all of those things. Once it's configured i don't actually know if it will run on power only. you would need to remove the sd card to be able to review any footage. Is there a reason you don't want it on the network?

    Not where i live. It's a AUD$400 difference. AUD$199 for the ultra and AUD$599 for the max. Now i don't know if that's just the ultra being at a really good intro price or what, but it's the main reason i didn't get a max in the first place.

    Is the TP-Link running as a router or is it in bridge mode? If it's running as a router you're gonna have a tricky time getting the NVR to see the cameras because they will be on a different subnet.

    Many of the red light cameras where I live are also speed cameras. So if you speed up to beat the lights and go through a red you'll not only get a fine for the red light you'll get pinged for speeding too.

    Meraki is good like that too but a bit more enterprise and thus cost. At work we manage about 40 sites all connected via site to site VPN containing routers, switches, APs and cameras all from the one portal.

    You can get outdoor rated pre terminated fibre optic cable that has water blocking yarn which is a shit load less messy than gel filled stuff. You also need to keep in mind that fibre optic runs have bend radius requirements that can differ to copped cable runs. It might be a straight run...

    Yeah well maybe, maybe not. you're sticking that stuff in the ground so you should use the appropriate cable. You should be using gel filled direct bury cable because even though it will be in a conduit it will almost certainly end up with water in it. Fibre typically has no such problem.

    Yeah unless you just run copper instead in which case you just need a normal Poe switch for your cameras and your AP can plug in directly as well.

    Yeah if you're digging a trench then just hard wire your AP. If you don't want to deal with managed switches and vlans then just run multiple fibres and use one for each network. You'll still be able to use managed switches and vlans at a later date if you want.

    It defies belief but as is often mentioned on these forums it's not uncommon for some settings to simply not appear in some browsers. The security camera industry is still stuck in the dark ages really when it comes to UX.

    This is likely the simplest way using the switches and config you already have. Where's the cable entry point in relation to the IP camera switch that hangs off your BI machine? you'll still need to link that.
