Any advantage to *managed* external POE switch the Dahua NVR?

Ha. And the only time I've ever actually wanted to reboot a Dahua was when something chewed thru the cable but I was at work so I just thought it froze up.

Any advantage to *managed* external POE switch the Dahua NVR?

Non managed will work just fine. Managed will also work, will be more expensive, but gives you more options. One of the more useful options (in my opinion, I don't have managed switches) would be to remotely reboot that port if a camera is frozen or something. Also pay attention to fans (could...

Quick opinion needed - replacing old Q-see

I would actually do it like this.... And consider getting gigabit switches as well.

How many cams can you record to one drive continuous ?

Is your network able to handle 15 cameras? Max data could require gigabit network. 15 starlights * max of 8gb/s is more than fast ethernet can handle....

Quick opinion needed - replacing old Q-see

Also, if you decide you don't want to buy a new switch, and are happy to Power the cameras with a separate power cable into the wall (I wouldn't recommend that.... Poe is really nice) then you actually could plug the cameras data cable directly into the wifi router in your shop. Definitely beats...

Quick opinion needed - replacing old Q-see

Buy a (at least 8 port, probably 4 poe/4non poe Will be cheapest... But might want to go with 8 poe port for future) POE switch for the shop (as long as the cameras you get can be powered by POE). Plug the 100ft underground cable into the up link port of the new switch. Then, plug your wifi...

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

Oh absolutely. If anything wonky starts happening a factory reset will be my first move since I didn't reset at upgrade time.

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

For the first time I actually didn't to a factory reset before or after upgrading. I've seen a ton of people on here stating they never reset, and I was short on time so I just tried it. Seems to be working fine so far.

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

Not sure what you mean by triggering local alarms, but the actual file that's pushed is the substream. If you aren't recording the substream, doesn't matter what you do it's not going to work.

Also, here's the camera's IVS page. IDK why snapshot is checked.

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

Sometimes that's actually quicker and easier than trying to figure out whats wrong :/ And just a thought, are you recording the substream? The IVS pushes are the substream and the NVR needs to actually be recording it to be able to push it. Here's my schedule. It's the same for the 2 cams I...

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Edit - For what it's worth I actually have 13 days. But who knows, I may have played with the settings in the past 2 weeks. Anyway it's quite a bit longer than 10 days I had thought.

gDMSS update - push notifications no longer working

My thread title describes the problem I was having perfectly, but thanks for the suggestion. Anyway, I upgraded the firmware tonight and all is fixed as I stated in the other thread that was started for iDMSS.

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

I upgraded to the firmware provided by @EMPIRETECANDY here (click the little up arrow next to his name to go to post) and now I am able to successfully subscribe to the IVS notifications of the NVR device on my Android (gDMSS Plus version 3.49.003). I tested this on my LAN and also connected...

Trying to hook up wired camera through powerline adapter and PoE switch

Hmm. It's possible that it has set the IP address as that on the camera. You can try plugging a computer directly into the NVR so it gets an IP address from the NVR and try to access that cameras web page and set it a static IP address in your normal LAN range, or set your computer to a static...

Trying to hook up wired camera through powerline adapter and PoE switch

Before buying that, did the camera come with a power cable? Try plugging the power cable into the wall for power, then the cat5e from the camera to the switch. If that works... Buy the splitter I posted. Unless you're mounting this somewhere near an outlet.. Then just use the wall power.

Trying to hook up wired camera through powerline adapter and PoE switch

If it's not a POE capable camera, you'll need a splitter. The POE cable goes into the splitter and then the output is a data cat5 cable and a power cable that will need to be plugged into the camera. If it's not turning on, because it can't be powered via poe, then that would explain why you...

Trying to hook up wired camera through powerline adapter and PoE switch

Download fing on your phone. That's what I use normally to figure out the IP address of a new network device. It should show up there. Probably a dumb question, but you have the camera plugged into an actual POE port right? And not accidentally into one of the non poe ports? And also, the...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Not exactly sure what your question is.... But I've never messed with emails. Was using Dahua NVR IVS push notifications to the paid gDMSS app on my Android till that feature broke. Supposedly the new NVR firmware might have fixed that.

Trying to hook up wired camera through powerline adapter and PoE switch

Also how far away are your poweline adapters? Can you try putting them in the same room as each other and see if that works? I bought some once (they are super old, but still worked) and what I wanted to do with them was just too far apart for them to get a good connection with each other. I...

Trying to hook up wired camera through powerline adapter and PoE switch

Have you tried manually adding the new camera in the NVR with its actual IP address? Since the NVR hands out it's own, maybe it's not scanning the rest of the network properly? Just a thought.

gDMSS update - push notifications no longer working

Yes, I have a Dahua NVR5216-4KS2. Push notifications won't work without a Dahua NVR. They were working just fine for me for 3 months or so before the update. I'm planning on upgrading the NVR firmware tonight and I'll report back if that fixes the problem.

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Three of them are at 15 and I think the other two that watch my chickens are only set to 5 and probably a lower bit rate max.
