    Emergency Power/Storms/Prepping etc

Well, the end outcome wasn't great. I clamped the loose oil drain line closed, swapped the filter and filled it with oil. Then I happened to look at the old oil filter And of course, completely locked up The engines for these are very expensive, and I don't have the time or space to very...

Replacing all the filters, the air filter was dirty, but showed no signs of ever being wet or anything

Funny you mention a ship, came off a ship! The key switch is completely seized. I ordered a new one which should come soon When I picked it up the guy had mentioned just after I texted he got a ton of replies, in the end I think he said he got something like 35 messages in an hour. I think I...

2.5 vs 1 gbit Ethernet nic

Who said anything about a RAID 10 SSD array? no idea who's recording to FAT or exfat, but ext4 and NTFS can clear 10Gb+ easily Did you bother to read my post where I outlined my justification and hard drive speeds etc?

2.5 vs 1 gbit Ethernet nic

It depends. What will the NIC be used for? Most people here (I think) use 2 NICs, one for the camera network and one for the LAN network. For the camera network, you probably would not benefit. I am running 16 cameras (I think) and I am nowhere near to even utilizing 1Gb for the camera network...

    Gunshot Detection?

I've been trying to tune it for gunshots and have had no luck, without going out there and popping off a few rounds in the air, its just not possible to get the tuning right!

    Dash Cam?

The BlackVue ones can upload to their cloud, and you can trick them into upload to a local NAS https://espenandersen.no/personal-dashcam-upload-server-with-emby/

    Dash Cam?

Someone swerves in front of you at the last second and stands on the brakes. You hit them. When the police get there, they say you rear ended them and are at fault What do?

SD cards or No SD cards

The big drawback for me is that a faulty SD card can cause the camera to be kinda wonky Which is more likely to fail, the camera or the SD Card? The SD card by a mile

    Blue Iris as dash camera

This is a really weird post Why have you not contacted Axon?

SD cards or No SD cards

I decided against it, just more to go wrong and more things to touch. The less to touch on the camera the better IMO I run Blue Iris with 4+ months recording and then Frigate with 1 day recording for redundancy, and that 1 day is synced to Backblaze B2 every 1 minute

    Emergency Power/Storms/Prepping etc

Roam is now $165/mo which can be paused! They did introduce a 50GB Roam plan for $50 though, good for backup I think its gone up a few times. I just keep it paused. If we had a storm I'll just unpause and pay, well worth it then! Also fun to play with, so oh well

    Emergency Power/Storms/Prepping etc

Used to have Starlink mounted on the service entrance weatherhead, decided to move it to the other side of the garage. It wasn't possible to have it on this side of the garage before because of a big oak tree I had in the front, however I removed that after a hurricane Now the utility can't...

    Blue Iris 6.0 coming?

It won't, but if they could make it support high availability, I would lose it

    Emergency Power/Storms/Prepping etc

That's on my list of things to do, and would work for the house, however the garage has 1/2 PEX going through a breezeway to my detached garage. Its very possible it could freeze inside the breezeway if it got very cold, its not insulated With it dripping, it shouldn't freeze

    Emergency Power/Storms/Prepping etc

Instead of covering my faucets with the cheap foam things that are questionable, I am using the Freeze Miser devices that drip automatically when the WATER itself gets cold So far, working as expected. Very happy. This also saves the pipe

    Natural Gas Generators

Yep change the oil myself, and stock a lot of oil and filters. Have a good amount of the OE Generac filters from buying a few maintenance kits I got a good deal on, mainly for the air filters But, I have a few FRAM Ultra Synthetic filters too, much easier to change because of the rubber grip...

Thinking about upgrading to Wifi 7

I don't know if simply upgrading will solve your problem Think about adding more AP's, and moving everything you can to being wired. I suppose you could upgrade your AP's and and newer ones while you're at it. Personally I think you'll be wasting your time just doing an in place upgrade, I...
