Smart door bell harassment - 100K

As somebody from the UK I feel the government / courts change the rules to fit the narrative at times... This is just stupid, when I read about it some days ago my head was in my hands.... Yet another stupid rule passed by the courts... yet rapists and people with kiddy sh1t get a caution...

Home surveillance with Dahua - Planning

*EDIT Added VPN section Also make sure your NVR and cameras are blocked from Internet access (to many security holes in these IOT products & security is usually an afterthought with them) A VPN solution is a must for accessing them remotely. Your modem / router may have a VPN server built into...

Home surveillance with Dahua - Planning

Your above select ticks all the boxes, but like I say to anyone that will listen no matter what camera you install the night time is when the good stuff happens so make sure you have adequate lighting outdoors via floodlights with PIR. The more light you can put out there the better to capture...

Random No Link for long periods

When you ping the camera you need to be on the same subnet... For example if your PC is on 192.168.1.x and you ping your camera that is on 192.168.10.x it will time out (unless you have some VLAN's and Firewall rules setup) If your cameras are powered from the POE of the NVR and from what I can...

Random No Link for long periods

Hi Loofer, not sure if you have done this, but I would go for basic fault finding 101 1) Have a constant ping running to one of the IP addresses of the cameras and when the you loose connection see if you are getting ping replies.. As that would point to connectivity issue between the POE...

    Static caravan IP camera install

It would be fine if that was the only thing sitting on the 5 mbps pipe... I was working on the basis that everything is sharing these crap pipes like they usually are from my experience when you are using these "Free" shared wifi pipes. But this is my experience from holidaying abroad and...

    Static caravan IP camera install

If it were me, I'd be looking into installing a wifi based internet solution... bare with me! I'm guessing your static is on some sort of holiday camp? or something along those lines... Now usually they offer crap wifi say 5Mbps so if that is the case sign up to their service and just stream...

Scanning License Plates & Safe Neighbourhood

I've always thought about this for a project for my inlaws on the end of their drive.... Artificial Landscape Rocks - Outdoor Essentials would hide it nicely in there and only needs a small-ish hole cutting out for the lense.

Scanning License Plates & Safe Neighbourhood

Now not sure where you are in the world so don't know what data protection laws apply in your country... But first I would check the laws in your area regarding obtaining number plates.... Like I have said in another post you can stand outside you home on the sidewalk with your mobile and record...

    Curious Nighttime Stop

@lulu5kamz Thanks for the info... Big fan of wild life and in the US (guessing that's where you are) you get a lot of it. That PTZ is doing a great job there especially as there doesn't seem to be much light.. You ever thought of treating yourself to a nice ColorVUE or Dahua equivalent ? Bet you...
