Dahua Firmware Mod Kit + Modded Dahua Firmware

Awesome stuff. I have a 4421c so i can't use this, but I have to say it's very awesome that you succeeded in customizing your own Dahua firmware!

    Dahua Enable Telnet

Thank you for this info. Just out of curiosity,...what would the advantages of telnet access be? I can think of: - more advanced upgrade functionality - more advanced recovery (eg in case of bad flashes) - easier scripting (eg bash scripts) That's all i can think of. Am i missing something?

    NodeJS Module: node-dahua-api

Thank you! This can be very interesting to play with. Do you also know if it is possible to enable/disable a certain custom text-overlay by API? I never knew these Dahua cams are so scriptable... On a side-note: I seem to get less to none garbled snapshots after playing the the snapshot...

    NodeJS Module: node-dahua-api

That's a bummer. I saw on https://www.ispyconnect.com/man.aspx?n=Dahua several urls with the variable channel or chn or even subtype. But these variables doesn't seem to make a difference with my model (the snapshot is always of the main stream). I'm pulling snapshots every seconds with a...

    Ipc-hdw4421emp-as

That looks very impressive (especially the feature set and the housing)! My only concern is....what happens if the SD card becomes corrupted/defected? Will it still function (although without local recording)? You eventually will have to unscrew the whole base and then unscrew the whole cam to...

    NodeJS Module: node-dahua-api

Awesome. http://<IP>/cgi-bin/snapshot.cgi works. But do you know how to pull from the second stream (instead of main stream)?

    NodeJS Module: node-dahua-api

A wonderful plugin indeed. I wish there was a way to pull a screenshot/picture from the camera though.

Anyone got Dahua camera to record to NFS share??

Mayby you have installed a version of smartpss without pc-nvr? Try again with the latest version (choose custom to see in pc-nvr is checked to install). I never knew it was possible to playback NFS recordings in SmartPSS.

Anyone got Dahua camera to record to NFS share??

I don't have SmartPSS running constantly. However I do have PC-NVR running as a background process (I only use SmartPSS to configure the PC-NVR/Cameras and for local playback. I use gDmss for mobile playback of the recordings). I'm using 24/7 recording without motion (as of yet) so the PC-NVR...

Anyone got Dahua camera to record to NFS share??

I tried to do this too, but unfortunately without success. Eventually I used SmartPSS which basically does the same thing imo (record on schedule to a specific partition). Or am i wrong and is there some kind of advantage of NFS recording over SmartPSS? I'm curious though if you can accomplish...

Dahua smart pss + pc-nvr on windows 10 + gdmss

I struggled with this aswell. Just like you I found out that the SmartPPS accounts are just for controlling access to the SmartPPS application. The PC-NVR is a different part and its username/password remains admin/admin (I have not yet found a way to change. I did see a ini-file with a...

    Domes vs Bullets

Very interesting info. One thing I wonder though: why is in an indoor situation a dome prefered over a turret? Is it because of size and cost?

WD Purple Hard Drive NVR and DVR

I'm planning on buying this WD Purple 4TB hard drive for use with my Intel i5 windows desktop (running Blue Iris or Smart PSS). I noticed that this drive comes in two variants: WD Purple 4TB Surveillance Hard Disk Drive: http://www.amazon.com/Purple-Surveillance-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B00IMPO5OW...

Need help with Mini Camera purchase

That camera looks very nice by size howiegoods! (just 4cm by 4cm with POE and 2MP full HD) I would love to hear your feedback once you have your hands on it (since I'm looking for a non-intrusive indoor camera aswell).

    non-intrusive (smoked?) indoor camera recommendation

That's a good question. I always thought that psychologically a camera is less intrusive/present if you can't see the lens (hence smoked domes. You simply can't see whether it is pointed towards you or whether there is anything inside at all). Haha, that would be great though. I don't think...

    non-intrusive (smoked?) indoor camera recommendation

I'm considering placing two indoor cameras inside the house (one in the porch and one in the kitchen). The main reasons for these indoor cameras are so I can more easily identify/track burglars inside the house (past the entry point). For outdoor I already used 4MP Dahua/Hikvision turrets...

Anything at all to be done about surges from lightning?

Unfortunately I live in an area where short blackouts and power surges can occur. At the moment I'm using this Forza Regulator (which supposedly also has protection against surges): http://www.forzaups.com/us/products/voltage-regulators/1200-series/forza-avr-1200va-600w8-out-110v-black-3-leds...

Do I need Blue Iris for these scenarios?

I still would like to hear the advantages of Blue Iris in the above setting. Can anyone recommend me Blue Iris (I want to purchase it badly as it sounds fun and cutting-edge, but I must be able to justify it). According to the post here i would guess the following on the advantages of Blue...

Do I need Blue Iris for these scenarios?

I have a question about the advantage of Blue Iris in my scenario of cameras use. Mu current scenario At the moment I have 4 Dahua 4MP camera's (and an expansion with two more are planned. My setup will never grow beyond 8 camera's). I don't have Blue Iris yet. At the moment I have configured...

    Dumb question...

Good explanation! I'm curious, what is your opinion on that scenario? Do you think it's useful? Have you ever used both motion and recording simultaneously? Personally I think it would be useful (as motions aren't that reliable. I only have experience with in-cam motion though).

Recommendations for unmanaged 8 POE switch, all ports POE

I bought a Eagle Eye 9 Port 10/100 Switch (8 Port POE + 1 Uplink) SW09i for 75 dollar from amazon ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00H58P8RU/ref=nosim/ipctk-20 ) . All 8 ports are poe and it has an uplink (and it's fanless). The downside is no gigabit (but I don't seem to have any...

    Dahua 4mp, 6mm turrets (IPC-HDW4421C)

This is the firmware info (of my IPC-HDW4421C). Btw, I finally got FTP working. The issue was with my router. I have a Netgear r7000 (Nighthawk) with the ability to use a USB drive and make it accessable/writable by FTP. But the built-in ftp server by Netgear sends a non-standard reply when...

    Dahua 4mp, 6mm turrets (IPC-HDW4421C)

I also stuffed the connectors inside the body (it's a bit of a squeeze, but it can fit). I'm not sure if those parts are for the connector though. What worries me is the hole where the cables goes out the body. That hole doesn't seem where weatherproof. The parts might be for that area...

    Dahua 4mp, 6mm turrets (IPC-HDW4421C)

I ordered 4 from E&M. It's a great seller (fast shipping with free upgrade to UPS and customer oriented: he even extended my purchase protection by my request since I didn't have enough time to install and test yet). They are English firmware: meaning you don't need a translator to translate...

Back up Instantly during an alarm event or trigger event?

EnvisaLink came to my mind when reading that sentence. It's a neat product (attached to your alarm system and to your router) that exposes API which can be used to get the status of an alarm (and even triggered zone). It also sends an email when an alarm is triggered (with zone information)...

is this cheap no-brand poe switch interesting?

Thank you for the great analysis bp2008! I didn't see some of those points. Scenario 1 it will be then (together with the eagle eyez switch and at first 4 camera's). Maybe in the future i will convert to scenario 3 (when 9-port gigabit fanless switches become cheaper and the four extra camera's...

is this cheap no-brand poe switch interesting?

Thanks for the info bp2008! I think I'm leaning towards the eagle eye switch then (since it has one more port and is smaller). I also don't think I will be able to utilize the gigabit option. While I will be using a blue iris machine, it shouldn't use more bandwith then say a NVR (since it will...
