IR light - 5 model comparison

making curved LED would result less focused light, they concentrate all the IR LED to same direction to get brighter light but you can also use different lens on the LED to get wider angle but you'll get less light so you'll have to get more LED and so on... Also LED inside camera is not good...

Where do you get high quality lens replacement?

personaly I buy mine from banggood, especially the 12 and 16mm, they also provide M12 lens extender because for 12 and 16mm or higher you may have to "unscrew" to the max and it could be too short depending the M12 mount you have. But take care about the 25/35/50mm I am not confident in...

Raspberry Pi as an IP Camera for BI

You must make RasPi act like a MJPEG or RTSP IP camera you have many ways to do it. Best one is to turn it into RTSP camera as the RaspiCam is already H.264 so no video convertion needed, nearly no CPU usage. You can try this way Raspberry PI (Ver 2.0) + PI Cam as a stable RTSP Server -...

False trip line from a tree shadow.

from the tech specs sheet I do not see any I/O connector so you'll have to fins some z-wave based model (for example) and add a z-wave USB key on your PC and make the software call come WebAPI on BI to trigger motion event but its not the only way.

False trip line from a tree shadow.

do your camera have any input I/O ? but you can also couple it with BI if it can "communicate" directly or indirectly in order to trigger an event in BI.

    WiFi Extender & Bluetooth

OK BT 3.0 is no as "strong" as BT 4.0 against other frequences disturbing and 1 foot is quite a short range. But as many Amazon buyers you never read the negative reviews that are the only ones that are interesting (who cares about "I am happy", what I want is to know what other have found...

    WiFi Extender & Bluetooth

BT dongle is a receiver, it is something you use when your PC don't have integrated BT itself, this is something I also often use for WiFi whene I want to locate my WIFi antenna at a slightly better place than right close (oe inside) the PC top avoid electric disturb or also make the antenna...

"Don't buy cheap Chinese-made security cameras, because their security may just be terrible"

The "suspicious" traffic is often produced by the P2P protocol that a lot of cams have today and as I said problem is that they all have their own P2P implementation, there is no standard RFC about it (or I may say a lot of P2P cams use the same P2P servers/protocol), it may also be the...

Yes what I meant about VPN is that it is the secure way to do it, I only said that as for any server/protocol/computing/electronics, flaws are discovered time to time including for VPN software but they are fixed quickly because security is the heart of such product ;-) And if you want to...

"Don't buy cheap Chinese-made security cameras, because their security may just be terrible"

Dahua and Hikvision is not what I qualify as "cheap" cameras they are rather expensive for Chinese products. What I call "cheap" is rather all those Top-201, Digoo M1Q... there are tons of such cams that cost nothing but which have nearly no security. And whenever you have for example RTSP...

"Don't buy cheap Chinese-made security cameras, because their security may just be terrible"

Many cameras have such flaws (but also well known cameras have flaws that are still undercover and kept undercover on purpose to avoid vendors to patch them) but for those flaws listed they are "usable" only if you open their access port (HTTP and/or RTSP and/or FTP, and/or Telnet...) directly...
