    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I unplugged it to let it reboot, and it acts normal for 1-2 minutes, then the white flashing starts every 1 second.

I got my cameras installed today. 2 of them are working great. 1 camera is flashing white to normal every 1 second. Any ideas what the problem is? I tried factory resetting them all, and they all have the same setting. Is it defective? It looks like this:

Need help choosing camera location & how to mount

That button worked thank you. But the recorded video still appears stretched, how do I view the recorded file as unstretched? The button does nothing during playback.

You're right, looking at it on my phone it looks correct, but looking at the recorded file to the NVR it still looks stretched. How do I play back the recording with it unstretched?

If I put it on the brick, then I have to flip the image 90 degrees, and the camera gives me an incredibly huge fisheye view Look at the door, why does it look curved like that? Also everything looked stretched sideways Does everybody's camera get super stretched if they flip 90 or 270 degrees...

Need help choosing camera location & how to mount

Any suggestions on what location and how to mount front porch camera? I have the Dahua PFA137 bracket already. Locations A,B,D feel hollow. Location D is less desireable because somebody could come from behind the camera to take it out. Location A and B feel like vinyl siding, hollow behind.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Not possible. A's end is very short and it will screw into the hole, but it doesn't come out the other side, so part C can't attach. Actually, I just looked at my 2nd PFA137...and it seems 1 is defective, because the other part is much longer

Can anyone explain how to use the weather sealing part that comes with the PFA137 mount please?

I'm mounting camera to a ceiling but there's an overhang it can't see past, how can I lower it a bit? I have the PFA137 mount. Can I mount 2 of that mount together to lower it, or what's the best way?

What is the point of the mounting block on the vinyl instead of just putting the pfb203w directly into the vinyl/house? Either way there's 6 screws going through the vinyl/house.

I'm not planning to DIY for the install/running the ethernet through the attic. I just ask to know how it SHOULD be done, so I know if the installer does it the correct way :) I will get a few more quotes though, that's always a good idea.

$375 to run 3 Ethernet lines & install is too much you think? The PFB203W wall mount screws are only 1". Any suggestion how long to get? 2.5-3" be good or overkill?

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I'm hiring a neighbor that has a home theater/security camera company. But I'm not sure how good he is to be honest... His rate is $125 per cable run, so $375 for my 3 cameras to be installed. I get that it's a sandwich, that's why I don't see how it's possible to screw those 2 screws back on...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Sorry... computers are my specialty, not handy with this kind of stuff. Is this how it should look like when it's mounted to the block? But 1st I would take off the back metal plate with 6 holes, put 6 screws in the holes into the mounting block/vinyl siding/side of house. Then put it back...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I don't...I've read the instructions, but still don't understand wear the cables go. Putting the cables through my vinyl siding/wall isn't an option, there's insulation in there and can't run it to the attic with the insulation (I think?) I thought the cables would just come out the side of the...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I bought this, but where is the wiring supposed to go then? I wanted to run the Ethernet up behind my gutter into the soffit/attic on my 2nd floor. I don't want to cut a hole in my house to put the cabling from the camera. With this mounting block it looks like the cabling can't come out the...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Curious how to mount these cameras to vinyl siding? I bought the PFB203W wall mount, and this mounting block, because people told me not to mount the PFB203W directly to vinyl siding: Builders Edge 6.625 in. x 6.625 in. #021 Sandstone Beige Dutch Lap Surface Block-130110008021 - The Home Depot...

h265 uses about 40% less hard drive space than h264. Use H265. bitrate depends on what frame rate you set, and what resolution (1080p etc)

Yes I was :( I found where to upgrade the camera firmware, and these cameras already have the most recent one...so that issue is solved. Where can I find firmware for my NVR4108-8P-4KS2 I bought from Andy/Empire? There's not much info on this forum about this NVR

Thank you. Still haven't been able to get optical zoom working on any of my 3 cameras, I've tried from my Dahua NVR at http://192.168.1.108 and via TinyCam on my Android phone.

Wow that's disappointing... right on Dahua's product info page it says: Pan/Tilt/Rotation Range Pan:0˚~360˚; Tilt:0˚~78˚; Rotation:0˚~360˚
