Seattle Area Bomb Cyclone Sky Captures November 2024

Loryta Color 4KT's ----- My sky cameras are set up primarily for getting footage for time lapse. So, the frame rate for encoding is only 3 FPS. That also keeps the camera from varying its frame rate as exposure time adjusts up. The Color-4KT will drop its encoded frame rate if exposure time...

Seattle Area Bomb Cyclone Sky Captures November 2024

We're still without mains power, but sky cams are still on the job. Last time this size outage happened it was an 11 day outage in my area. PNW bomb cyclone time lapse. Wind direction during bomb cyclone is reverse from usual prevailing. That likely contributed to the numerous tree falls as the...

dahua cam is constantly resolving SMTP server since firmware update V2.820.0000000.63.R, Build Date: 2024-08-07

Yikes. Another of the many reasons to keep security cameras on their own isolated network. I don't allow any of my cameras to have a working DNS service, let alone a reach outside their isolated security network. They only get local NTP service. No phoning home! Still, that is a lot of DNS...

Not in the plugin. You have to select the channel for thermal before the palette options appear in the camera settings.

    EmpireTech Time Sync Issue

MacOS user here. So, no Windows Explorer being used for setting my Dahua cameras. I use Chrome and it works fine for basic settings. I don't use any smart camera features. SecuritySpy does all my image capture and analysis. Chrome should work fine for setting the time server settings. Your...

    Comet at 57.6 Million miles....

We didn't get a chance at the comet until tonight's break from a long stretch of continuous Pacific Northwest cloud cover. By tonight, it had faded below naked eye visibility. Color-4KT sky cam came through.

    Serene Sunset and Moonlight

Full moon tonight created an opportunity to showcase a Color-4KT turning night into day using moonlight. 4K full screen recommended.

    Auroras!

Yes. The Color-4KT's perform well for capturing aurora activity. Last night was just dimly visible to the naked eye at our location. Phone cameras could capture some color, but nothing really vivid due to partial layer of clouds. Despite those conditions, I could create a nice time lapse after...

    Geosynchronous Satellites

I think these are geosynchronous satellites flaring into view Fixed position, but flaring dots amidst a moving star field. These all seem to be along the same plane. They also reappear at same location and time on different nights. Bright pixels stuck on in camera sensor should not flare at...

Aurora Through Seattle Clouds Sept 12 2024

Strong and near enough to appear on all four of my sky cams. Possibly extra strong due to the special magnetic orientation of the Earth that lets more energy leak through in September. Video shows north, east, and south sky cams. West cam was just a high altitude purple glow and is not in this...

    IPC-Color4K-T180 or the HIK ver?

I'm in the opposite situation of using SecuritySpy and have full flexibility in size/shape of my display layouts. Having enough SCO oomph plus giving users the option of aspect ratio will remain a future dream.

    IPC-Color4K-T180 or the HIK ver?

Unfortunately, that is still the horizontally squeezed 4096/1800 ratio of 1:2.28 It isn’t until you drop down to 3840/1080 that you get the un-squeezed ratio of 1:3.56 Without squeeze the frame would look more like.... Instead of the horizontally squeezed... I wonder if the problem is...

    IPC-Color4K-T180 or the HIK ver?

Wow. That would be good. I decided not to get a T180 because of the geometry distortion when at full 1800 height resolution. Is this actually the full 1800 vertical resolution without the squeezed aspect ratio? More pointedly, what are the actual resolution options now with FW 3.120.0.35R?
