    Great effort on trying compare the field of view on these various cameras. For Newbs, I think it's best to stick to varifocal as they are super forgiving and you can easily take em with you (and reuse) if you ever move houses.

    The image for 5442 is suffering from lens flare and this will reduce contrast.

    Maybe the 4mp starlight models might be give you an edge in colour night vision? You should push for more visible light at night though given it's a common electricity bill. This is known to prevent crime universally.

    Oh man I feel for your situation. That PTZ is pretty impressive though! Try dashing and opening cars and see whether it can follow you.

    Are you using Blue iris or NVR? Both have options for rotation but I remember it took me a little while to find em.

    Very tricky backlighting to capture any faces. I reckon it's best to improve illumination or sensor lighting, fake security cams with blinking lights and car alarms etc. Do the basics well. If I were the robber, I would wear hoodie and even a mask at night. There is no way you gonna catch me...

    I am no expert so can't really help you. Make sure you read the cliffnotes though. Look into the Boobie cam also. It can give you two cameras with one run of cable. Otherwise you could use a cable splitter and have two cameras there pointing each way. Depends on the access points and vulnerable...

    Actually my issue is for VTH to talk each other. I have no issues with VTO to VTH. The doorbell functionality is working fine n dandy. It's the internal intercom functionality that I amcurious about.

    Do you need superior night vision? Face ID at night? Depends on your requirements. This project may be impossible depending on requirements and balancing power requirements. You may need to seriously compromise on image quality.

    I am not surprised! I had this professionally installed with two monitors. The installers (2 of em) took about 4 hours of mucking around with the software to get it to work! At one point, one of them gave up and returned on another day. They were very embarassed. :)

    Suggest getting someone else to do the conduits for you! Compared to what I pay in Australia, $170 per line is SOOO cheap! I paid that during the construction phase of my house where they had full access to the internals and it was really easy to run lines.

    DoorBell camera usage

    I would use almost 10 per month but most couriers just ring bell and dash out before I can even receive the ring. My doorbell was installed professionally and it is not positioned well. If someone crouches to put a parcel down, I can't even see that. I need to move it but worried about warranty...

    My solution for a noisy Dahua NVR

    Love that! My Dahua NVR is quite noisy but it lives in the laundry cupboard. I will check temps in there over summer and mod it if required. Just a little hesitant to touch it as it would still be under warranty with trusty Andy on the forum.
