Dahua Camera why is DST "manual" ?!?!?

The Dahua cams and NVR changed to "winter time" last Sunday night here. Everything seemed to be alright, but when I tried to playback a stream, it showed the stream 1 hour earlier (so the timeline and the actual time of the stream had a 1 hour offset). Not a big issue, but a bit annoying if you...

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

WDR works, I'm still trying to find the optimum WDR setting. WDR in general works very well on the other cams I have. DST: works here. You shouldn't have to sync time to your PC. Just set the time zone, DST, Sync to NTP settings (I would recommend using another time server), save and it will...

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

Don't think so. That's why I wondered how this cam compares to 'real' Starlight models. If they are much better in low light, I'd have no problem with paying the extra cost. I'm happy with the low light performance, but at daytime it seems the sensor is not the best in high contrast situations.

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

Weird... Could indeed be some way to keep you from using other than Kare cams. Anyway, good that everything now works!

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

I've never tried it, but it would seem logical that shutter speed increases when there's IR light available. Higher shutter speed (e.g. 1/60 instead of 1/30 s) means better images in terms of moving objects. Why don't you give it a try? Set it to B/W with IR Smart on, walk around and check the...

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

Picture looks good, although it seems you have quite a bit of lights available, that make the cams job much easier. I get nice results as well, especially for a $46 cam. I wonder if this comes any close to starlight cams... In color mode, you might get issues with people moving (blurry/smeared...

Dahua NVRs motion record with scheduled record skips frames

I am still playing with various settings. What I noticed is that when you playback an event, you get different results when you choose 'All' or 'Normal'. With 'Normal' (I find this the easiest way to find events) I sometimes get a missing part in the stream, with 'All' this seems not to be an...

NVR not automatically overwriting old files

I cannot imagine a country where it's against the law to keep surveillance recordings of my back garden for 6 months, if I want to. Except maybe in Little Rocketman's country. Recording e.g. the street is restricted (not forbidden) where I live and then certain rules apply.

NVR not automatically overwriting old files

I've upgraded it to V3.215.0000000.1, immediately after powering it for the first time, about 3 weeks ago. You can do a search for the latest fw from the menu on the NVR, no need to manually search the web. There's also a setting for automatic updating, but I wouldn't recommend that. It...

NVR not automatically overwriting old files

I have a similar set up (4108-P-4KS2 & WD Purple 6 TB, set to overwrite when full), but recording continuously 4 channels. I'm at approx. 2 TB space left and expect to reach the 100% used state in a few days. I'll let you know what happens.

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

The NVR you're refering to is without PoE. If you need it, search for the 4104-P (or 4108-P). There are a couple of ethernet PoE ports where you connect your PoE cams. Other/more than 4 cams can be connected through your network. The seller puts an exclamation mark after *every* sentence...

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

Since you ask this in the Dahua forum, don't be surprised that I recommend the Dahua NVR4104-P-4KS2. Or the 4108 (8 channel) for just a few bucks extra. I paid $130 a couple of weeks ago (4108 from the same seller you bought the 4233 from) and the device is relatively easy to configure and seems...

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

I don't think this cam has an SD card slot, anyway I didn't use a card. Yes - 192.168.1.108 is the default IP address. The Dahua config tool searches for cams even if you're not on the same subnet, so I would run this tool and let it scan continuously while you try to power it. If this cam has...

IPC-HDW4233C-A does it need a separate power supply?

I purchased the same cam, from the same Ali store. Arrived yesterday afternoon and it's already hooked up to my NVR. It does have a separate power input (12VDC I guess), but also PoE, so I'm not sure why you'd need the power splitter... But having said that, I have zero knowledge of the Kare...

Upload snapshot to server with fixed name for solar installation

Today I installed my HFW-5231R-Z cam on the roof of the house, to keep an eye on my solar panels. Winter is coming and that means we can expect some heavy storms here in Holland (no hurricanes... yet). The idea is to upload a snapshot every 5 minutes or so to a server. On the solar monitoring...

Dahua NVRs motion record with scheduled record skips frames

I recently purchased an NVR 4108-P-4KS2 and encountered the issue with the missing video when an IVS event is triggered. The latest firmware seems to have addressed the different stream encoding: when you select an encoding method in "Continuous" it copies this setting to "MD" and "Alarms" and...

Need help with a Dahua 4431 and ExacqVision

I've updated a couple of Dahua cams without any problem, all with cor35vet's patched firmware. Although the fw version was the same, it solved an issue on one of them. Followed the instructions carefully, but there's always a bit of a risk, so if you don't feel comfortable doing that or don't...

IPC-HFW4431R-Z still the best varifocal for under $100?

Not sure why you'd call it low end. Although the resolution is lower, the sensitivity is better. My favorite store also mentions "better chip set", but that's not backed up by specs or anything else. And it's more expensive than the 44xx range.

IPC-HFW4431R-Z still the best varifocal for under $100?

I was kind of happy with the low light performance as well, but you might want to have a look at the 52xx series. Less resolution, better night time performance. Probably much less than the starlights, but for approx. $90... I ordered the HFW5231R-Z recently (Chinese version). Came to EU in 9...

    HDBW4431R-AS SD card issues

In case anyone else experiences this in the future: I changed the resolution and codec, both cams have been working without issues for 9 days now. New settings: Codec H.265, max. resolution. Sub streams are default. I can't explain why this works now, maybe there's a certain setting combination...

    HDBW4431R-AS SD card issues

When I store events locally on the SD card, it seems to work fine. I can playback events without any problems. After some time (couple of hours), probably when some events have been saved, the camera becomes "slow". Connecting to the camera with the gDMSS app or an RTSP viewer takes longer, up...

Dahua Firmware Mod Kit + Modded Dahua Firmware

I own a Dahua HDBW 4431R-AS and I have been following his thread for some time now. I knew I could not update (official) firmware on my Aliexpress cam when I made the purchase, but I'm always curious and convinced somebody will find a way. Today I updated my cam with the info in the start post...
