How often do you guys reboot/restart Your NVR

It is on a UPS. But of course, I will still have the same problem, as I will be shutting down when power goes down, if I am present at that time. I don't know how I can prove to the vendor that it may be defective. I would have to return it and they would have to spend time checking it to make...

How often do you guys reboot/restart Your NVR

I try not to reboot my NVR. Every time I've done it (restart or shutdown) I find several camera's no longer capturing on motion, although live view works. I then have to identify which cameras are capturing by checking playback on every one and then rebooting that individual camera. PITA.

    Hikvision DS-7716NI

You set up the network at the NVR by choosing Menu -> "System Config" -> Network. As someone else noted, you are not using the same network settings. My NVR has a static IP so dhcp box is unchecked. To access the camera from browser: for the default pw, I had problems with this also. The...

    camera IR poor at night

Thanks for confirmation of privacy mask. I did have my doubts. Yes, I can tilt down to move image below the bright light. I was hoping to avoid that solution but I will do that tomorrow. I also have a spare camera. If nothing else helps, I can try replacing it.

    camera IR poor at night

An update: Logged into the camera, I chose "reset all except IP & User info to Default". That did not resolve my problem. My other choice, which I need to try is "Restore all parameters to default". I did not choose that because I did not think resetting the IP & pw would make a difference...

    camera IR poor at night

The only thing is that if I reboot the camera, then the IR lighting is good. It's like it is not kicking in at nightfall. That said, it's in my backyard and a neighbor has very bright driveway lights. So my first thought was that these lights are 'fooling' the IR. But if that is the case...

    camera IR poor at night

The only changes made since outta the box have been IP Gateway (to allow viewing on browser), OSD, & password. I'll give your approach a shot and see what happens, seems like a good thing to try first. The only other variable is the cat5e. Doesn't seem like that is a problem since it works...

    camera IR poor at night

Just added a camera to my system. Hikvision XC-2142FWDI. I have several other identical cameras attached and they all work as expected. When this new camera transitions from day to night, the view is very dark. I don't know exactly how these devices work but it's as if the camera cannot...

7716 NVR - Setup, general questions and VPN help

I have a 7716NI - using it for about 2 months. I do not know how it differs from your 7716 E4. On camera passwords, I perform a camera reset and that picks up the password of the NVR. This is because I was never able to login to the camera with any of the widely published pw's. The reset is...

How do I configure Firefox/Linux/VLC to work?

Thanks alastair & nayr. I finally got the plugin, it's not available in the normal openSuse distro, I believe it has to do with codec's & copyright in the USA. It is available from a multimedia distro in Europe. So I have just installed 'npapi-vlc' and it works!! Unfortunately, apparently...

How do I configure Firefox/Linux/VLC to work?

OK, thanks. I am using openSuse and there are no FF add-ons in the repositories. Maybe there is a different repo that I need to find. I'll have to check around the Suse forums. The install of VLC didn't seem to have a plugin included. Maybe I missed something, I'll need to check it more...

How do I configure Firefox/Linux/VLC to work?

I've added the route to my network gateway. I changed the gateway of a single camera to the NVR. I can still see that camera in the NVR and but I have the same result with LiveView that I was getting before. See attached. I can ping that address. I presume my issue now is the plugin. I'm...

How do I configure Firefox/Linux/VLC to work?

Yes, I can reach the cameras. I can access their web interface with Firefox (Linux), except for the video feed, which gives the well known missing plugin message. I started this thread because I noticed the live feed has a drop down that included VLC. I was hoping that was a key to making it...

How do I configure Firefox/Linux/VLC to work?

Great, thanks! I tried getting to the stream earlier today and wasn't having any luck. The camera's are on private subnet and the NVR handles the linking via it's 'virtual host'. So trying to connect with rtsp://admin:MyPassord@192.168.1.20:65003/Streaming/Channels/1?tcp doesn't work (65003...

How do I configure Firefox/Linux/VLC to work?

Thanks, I need to look at that more carefully. When I select VLC I get the following in a non-stop loop: VLC could not connect to "people.videolan.org:5554". Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://people.videolan.org:5554/storewars3'. Check the log for details...

How do I configure Firefox/Linux/VLC to work?

HikVision 7716NI & 2142FWD cameras. As noted in many posts, when connecting with a non-IE browser one cannot use Live View or Playback. Connecting to a camera from Firefox in Linux offers choice of VLC and Quicktime in addition to WebComponents (presumably Win only). With VLC installed I...

    VPN + Hikvision NVR + RT-AC66U

I have not yet set up a VPN so cannot respond to that. But I would like to point out that the FTC has recently released a caution about vulnerabilities in ASUS routers, you may want to read the following link. https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/got-asus-router-home-read

HIK.NVR 7608, What is? SADP 192.1.0.64 can't ping or browser access from 254 net

If you are using Windows then depending on your version is apparently issues with active-x. I can get live view to work using IE under XP. In Win10, the browser does not support active-x but there is an icon in the upper right of that browser that opens a dropdown where you can select IE...

Hikvision NVR 7616 - Playback help wanted

I have an NVR 7716. I don't know how similar the software is to your 7616. And I'm new to this and still struggling to understand things and get them working like I want. That said, regarding your Q2, I suddenly found my motion detection not working. I eventually discovered that I had...

    SADP Question

Yes 1). To see what's 'on the other side of the hill' 2). 2 cameras are refusing login credentials. 'Fixed' one with the camera reset, will do reset on the other today. But still want to see what SADP shows. Your reply confirms for me that if I'm that curious I need to plug laptop into NVR...

    SADP Question

Have HikVision 7716NI with several 2142FWD 4mp camera's attached. Cameras are on private subnet, 192.168.254.x I have enabled the VPN passthrough and can view some (but not all) of the camera web pages using a browser. SADP, v 3.3, shows only the NVR, none of the cameras. I have not attempted...
