"I want 2.8mm cameras everywhere to see everything..." - This is why you need specific FOVs with purposeful focal lengths.

Hard to say any more; they multiply like rabbits. Somewhere between 20 and 100 at this point.

Guide to good camera installation practices?

It doesn't cover all of your items, but my thread has been referenced before, if you haven't seen it. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/i-want-2-8mm-cameras-everywhere-to-see-everything-this-is-why-you-need-specific-fovs-with-purposeful-focal-lengths.70053/

Can I change the Native Home position on a cheap Chinese camera?

This would likely be set in the camera's settings and not BI. I had a Foscam PTZ I used as a baby monitor and was able to set presets in the UI, and then call out which one it would go to on start up. Can you post some screenshots of the camera's UI?

Teaser Info and Mini Review - Empiretech B52IR-X3 Triple Lens Camera

Any thoughts on camera settings that could make a difference before I move it down low and try that? Or that could make a difference if I slide it down to around 7' or so. I am hoping down low and shooting up under the tree makes a difference. It will possibly make the Near view useless, but oh...

Teaser Info and Mini Review - Empiretech B52IR-X3 Triple Lens Camera

I have tried 0-16 with 20 gain, and it didn't help much, so I decided to go faster with more gain based on @wittaj 's settings. Exposure comp isn't meant to do anything when you're running Manual settings. It will make changes in some firmware, but all it is doing is adjusting the exposure and...

Teaser Info and Mini Review - Empiretech B52IR-X3 Triple Lens Camera

I hate waiting so long for it to get dark, but not much I can do about it other than complain. Here is what I have so far and I don't know what to do. I trimmed the trees back, but not sure how much more I want to trim them. I know they're a problem, but I also don't want to completely strip...

Teaser Info and Mini Review - Empiretech B52IR-X3 Triple Lens Camera

It's about 9.5 feet, so it was likely 12' to start with. I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap since it's powdercoated and has a finial, but they have to be available somewhere as companies buy them all of the time to install them. A quick search shows this place. I would be surprised if you didn't...

The side of the road. Someone backed into a No Parking sign pole and it laid there for months. I decided to be a good neighbor and do some neighborhood clean up.

Teaser Info and Mini Review - Empiretech B52IR-X3 Triple Lens Camera

Ultimately the goal is to have one of these on either side of the gate, covering the approach from both directions of the path. I went ahead and ordered the second one, even though the first one isn't fantastic at night for me. I am attributing the performance to maybe a less than ideal install...

Wide angle camera for front door

To have an infinitely better chance to see faces you will need to install the camera lower, not at the ceiling. 2.8mm next to the door. 3.6mm above the door.

Fence line - Bullet vs Vertical Turret

This is a capture from my 2MP B52IR-X3 that has 3.6mm, 12mm, and 25mm lenses all pointed at the same spot about 40-45ft away. All of the FOVs can see the guy on the lawnmower, but: One can Detect and Observe. One can Recognize. One can Identify. Pick the capture that best describes what you...

    Camera placement for new house

In hindsight, I probably wouldn't have ran everything on home runs, but being able to patch whatever, wherever is nice. So maybe consider running power and 2 ethernet to certain areas for a POE switch, and then you can branch other runs out from there. If the WAF allows it, I would go with a...

    Camera placement for new house

There's no kill like overkill, but you will want to check some of those positions with a camera before committing, just to make sure they are good. For looking at the doors, my thought is it is so you can see what happened, if something happened. Say you answer the door and have an altercation...

I bet a lot of you belong to the "HVAC crapped out at the worst time" club.

I've had good luck ordering parts from SupplyHouse.com. I thought my inducer motor went out, so I ordered one. It ended up just being some water in the housing. I drained it, and it's been good to go. I kept the new one because it was cheap enough to have, just in case. A couple months later, in...

I screwed up...broke the plastic part that accepts the rj45 jack

When terminating an RJ45, you want the insulation/sheathing to end in the connector so that it can crimp down on it.

    Camera placement for new house

My first thoughts. Front Door - Add an additional camera under the cover, pointed at the door. Guest Suite Door - Add an additional camera under the cover, pointed at the door. Covered Patio - Add an additional camera under the cover, pointed at the door. Garage - The crossing FOVs is nice. I...

Which resolution should I use for Dahua 4MP camera?

2688x1520 is full 4MP resolution at near 16:9 aspect ratio. I found this thread when doing a quick search. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/can-somebody-explain-the-resolution-modes-to-me.5961/

I need help with the IPC-Color4K-T180

No, where it is installed. Keep everything the same, but swap the camera, to rule out everything in between. And then the same with the trouble 180 where the other camera was.

    Nosey neighbor?

I just had a conversation like this with my neighbor across the street. Our families were on vacation and visited a water park at a lodge. They had a mix of smaller Hik/Dahua type domes and the large SURVEILLANCE type housings (which I think were mostly just visual deterrents, left there after...

    Camera Recommendations

These are in my post linked above, but wanted to add them here as well. My T54IR is not meant for reading plates, but I have saved some images just to show license plate captures at distances. T54IR-ZE at 12mm 40' 75' And this is the B52IR-Z12E. I don't know what the focal length is set...

    Camera Recommendations

If you are able to get it close enough to the road, the T54IR-ZE could work, but most either use the B54IR-Z4E or B52IR-Z12E. The Z4 is 4MP, but only gets to 32mm. The Z12E is 2MP, but reaches out at 60mm.
