A warning, K-Lite codec pack can install Infatica.
Have you asked the authors why it installs this if it has legitimate uses? It maybe for their update service or some other reason eg usage data. I have Klite on my system and malwarebytes and it doesn't detect infactia on my system albeit my klite is an older version.- CCTVCam

Moving around storage and removing a drive - best way to move clips?
I've had no issues with mine set to rebuild every night and it usually only takes a few seconds due to the frequent rebuilds minimising the chance of anything happening at that exact time. -

Yep exactly what I do. Only downside to a VPN is I've found if the router reboots, it changes the key, so you cannot remote in until you retreive the new key from your router locally and enter the new key on your mobile device. However a small price to pay for security. -

None of this would make much difference. Many Cameras have known exploits, and many of these allow hackers to circumvent the User Name / Password. Connecting any camera to the internet without a VPN is risking it being hacked and either botted, watched or bricked. eg On a Black Hat video I saw... -
