Mixing Cat5 and Cat6?
I have CAT5e cables run at over 500 feet and they will still connect fine at a full gigabit with zero lost packets. Yes, all my cameras run at full resolution. I'm getting the 4mp cameras as soon as LTS gets them in stock! Exacq start would work fine for you and is $40 per camera, but they limit that to only 16 cameras. That is dumb. I agree it is expensive, but for me worth it. You'll spend much more...- Razer

No way, Motion detection works great for me anyway. I disable IR on the cameras to keep the bugs away and it works fine. Motion can be trouble on some cameras, but I find on my Hik/LTS cameras that motion is great and the only way to go and has minimal falsing. I have at least 900 of my 1,100... -

Only record on motion? In all seriousness that is the only way I record on cameras as otherwise it is WAY too time consuming to search through. If it is too far away for the Hiks to pick up motion then the footage will not be worthwhile anyway for getting faces or license plates and the like... -

I still almost always use the bullets too - The domes are harder to hang the way I need to and generally faster and easier to mount and aim for my guys. I use the turret domes indoors and I like the turret domes where I really need good IR. As it is now I find the Hiks work well enough... -
