    Ubiquiti Point to Point Questions

I think the part I'm confused about is what the 2.5x cost of the NS over the loco adds. The NS has an extra port and can run off of 802.3af/at compliant POE. Neither of those two are benefits to me. The NS has a little higher gain. But the power appears to be the same. I'm looking at the...

    Ubiquiti Point to Point Questions

All the current cameras are set up on the outside at the front of the house. I'm able to access the attic in those areas to be able to run wires through the attic. I want to install cameras at the back of the house on the outside. I do not have access to that area to run wires through the attic...

    Ubiquiti Point to Point Questions

Outlet space is limited given the current installation of the rest of the system. And the second outlet would be outside. I have a pair of gigabit powerline adaptors with pass-thru ac that I may be able to put my hands on to test out.

    Ubiquiti Point to Point Questions

What I stated was true and not a mistake. PtP Wireless hardware is intended to be used with clear LoS. However, I'm relying on physics to assist me here. The signal will travel through obstacles and the obstacles will impact the signal to some degree, anywhere from minimal to severe. One of the...

    Ubiquiti Point to Point Questions

The extra port will be of minimal use in the original setup. I won't get any use out of it on the master unit. I could hook a camera up to it on the remote unit but that won't eliminate the need for a PoE switch for the other cameras. The only advantage might be if I use exactly 5 cameras. Then...

    Ubiquiti Point to Point Questions

I'm looking span about 50 feet with my network and wired is not the best option. I've been trying to learn about PtP bridges to see what would fit my needs. The signal would be sent through 1 ceiling and 1 wall. The connection will handle traffic from 4-5 cameras, mostly 5442's and maybe a...

    Porch Pirate - Police Deterrent Program . . .

Mark Rober did a few videos about fake packages. But I would think losing a hand or foot would be more of a deterrent than fart spray and glitter.

LPR Fighting Crime - IPC Member?!?

Yes, you said that. My point is that any company could produce a thing if they produced it. Saying they could really means nothing if they don't. They have one component out of many that are needed to accomplish the goad. They "could" but they don't.

LPR Fighting Crime - IPC Member?!?

So you're saying Wyze could produce a camera with the specs to capture plates if they produced one?

Point to Point Wireless Bridge Recomendations

A number of these point to point connections have a pretty good range with LOS. What about short distances (probably under 50ft) with no LOS? I need to extend a network from the front of a house to the back of the house. Running a cable through the attic is not an option. The only other feasible...

    Funny / Satire

"You only need to be able to read, recognize poor grammar, spelling and punctuation and also understand what constitutes proper sentence construction!" That's what they are counting on. It takes nothing to mass email these things out. It takes time to handle any response. All the grammar issues...

    Hot Tar

This stuff doesn't surprise me. There's always at least one person who feels they are the exception and the rules don't apply to them. I used to work as a detective in New Orleans and I can remember working a scene in the French Quarter. If you've never been there, the streets in the French...

Anyone out there tried these Wago connectors?

I haven't watched the video so I may be wrong about this. I didn't see the image as the guy labeling those things. I saw it as the guy listing the labels that people have used to dismiss that particular thing.

Anyone out there tried these Wago connectors?

I use them all the time, mostly for 12v or 24v stuff but some 110v stuff. They've got some inline ones that work better in some places.

    Router behind Router

I have a wireless system set up for my home that does not depend on the ISP's router. I plug a lan port of the ISP's router into the WAN port of my router. It works fine. That way I can use whatever modem I get from the ISP and my home network doesn't need to change. I should go in the ISP's...

    EmpireTech 2024 Spring Sales

One was a Hikvision color camera. One was a 2mp Dahua. Each one worth considerably more valuable than the cost of the lottery tickets I purchased. I don't factor in the cost of the cameras that resulted in lottery tickets because I would have bought those cameras anyway.

    EmpireTech 2024 Spring Sales

Yep...I'm fortunate enough to have won something in the last 5 lotteries. Two 3rd place, two 5th place, and one 6th place. It's been a couple of color4k's and some "smaller" cameras. Nothing fancy but something worth making me want to play again.

Poor IR contrast in new Tennessee license plates

Do you have a model number and/or possible price point on this camera? I may be upgrading one of my Z12's to the S2 and another Z12 to either the S2 or to a Z4 S3. I may hold off if a better option is coming soon. You described it an an ANPR camera. Is it a proper ANPR camera with ANPR functions...
