Dahua NVR "control room" connection, 3 open ports on router

VPN would be your best option. If you had to open ports, you could try and restrict access via IP address of the people that need the access, Also - I can VPN into my network in just a few seconds. Setting up the VPN is not that hard and wouldn't require a great deal of time. Your mileage...

    Good Internet Filter?

Look at setting up a free account with OpenDNS.com - there you can configure many settings and it’s an easy DHCP change on your network/router to point to their servers. I also second the Pi-hole option. You can run it on a raspberry Pi on your local LAN. It has some nice graphs and reporting...

    Windscribe VPN Causes No Signal

Sounds like it's working as desired. By connecting to a VPN, you are basically "removing" that PC from the local LAN which would result in dropped cameras. Why would you install this on the Blue Iris PC to begin with? Are you looking to access Blue Iris remotely? If so, you are looking at...

VLAN & NICs & Switch "Sharing"

Technically yes - but the way we typically see this put together is having all the of the hosts that need to talk to each other be on the same switch & VLAN and the cameras would be on a different switch along with the 2nd NIC on your BI PC all on a different VLAN or let's call it different subnet.

Best setup to cover 4000 sq ft

Ubiquiti will let you utilize both bands with the same name. There is a ton of tweaking you can do for things like band steering and minimum RSSI to help steer the clients to the right connection.

VLAN & NICs & Switch "Sharing"

Looks fine from what you have on the drawing so far. Technically, you don't need Vlans configured on the switch. Just put the cameras on the new switch and configure the 2nd NIC on the BI machine on the new 192.168.2.X with all the cameras. That would work just fine as well while at the same...

I would look in the Amazon Firestick app store for an app that supports RTSP streams. That should allow you to see the cameras

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

Totally understand. We use the car as more of an around town car and don’t typically go more than 50 miles one-way so, it works out. We just plug it in when we get home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

Nope - but again, it totally depends on how you drive and what accessories you run. In my Mach-E, I notice about 25%'ish drop in charge capacity in the colder months. When driving, if you run the heater all the time, you'll see the battery drop much quicker but if you run the heated seats and...

    Outdoor POE switch install

You should be able to power the 2nd switch from a PoE port from the the first switch. That would save you a tiny bit of room :)

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

The cold definitely has an effect on the batteries. Most people forget that it's a chemical device not just an electrical one and temperature does affect the performance. Of course a whole bunch of other things like your driving style, how much you run the heater versus the heated seats etc...

    How to setup 20 cameras?

Keep in mind, there is a performance hit to having BI put the time in the overlay. I have my cameras all time stamp themselves and I remove the overlays from all the cameras. That's why I run NTP - in addition to everything else on my network that needs NTP.

Have you tried disabling the noise filter on the audio tab in the camera web gui? I know it sounds counterintuitive but I know I get much better sound without that turned on.

LastPass says hackers stole customers’ password vaults

Just finished the migration of all of my info plus my wife's info over to Bitwarden. It involved a ton of cleanup including changing of most passwords to a long complex password - which is what added so much time to the move.

LastPass says hackers stole customers’ password vaults

I think if LastPass had done things 100% right, this wouldn’t be an issue given the encryption in use today. The fact they don’t encrypt certain metadata contained within the vault, combined with their lack of due diligence to secure their development environment adds up to good old...

LastPass says hackers stole customers’ password vaults

Well the passwords are still pretty protected especially with MFA. The part that bothers be is all the other non-encrypted data which was also stored in the vault. Not sure why they wouldn't have encrypted all of the data, just the passwords. Probably for speed.

Can no longer access BI from a web browser

Only if you want to group them. I do - for example, I have them grouped by front, back etc. so I can pick a view in UI3 which shows me just the front or back cameras. That checkbox you unchecked earlier lets you take it a step further by limiting camera groups by user. If you create groups...

Remote Desktop doesn't work on Win10 but does work on Android

If it is DHCP related, look for a "ping" option before the IP is actually offered. Some DHCP servers offer that, which tells the DHCP server ping the IP first before offering it up and if something responds, the DHCP server goes to the next address in the list it thinks is available and doesn't...

That's up to your ISP. Most cable or DSL internet providers don't provide a static Ip and if they do, they charge extra $$$ per month for it. Have you looked into dynamic DNS yet? IPCT offers it here: Tools

    Moving away from ubiquiti routing?

I switched away from the USG. Stood up a VM to manage Unifi. Works fine, you won't all of the fancy graphics detail of what each client is doing, but I get that info from my firewall which also does all the routing.
