    Confession: Crossover Cable

FWIW, I'm not sure how the second splitter can deliver 1 GB data with POE as advertised with only 2 pair of orange and green; it needs all 4 pairs which includes the blue and brown pairs. One customer included an image (below) of the RJ-45 with only 2 pairs shown. :idk:

Need camera mounted 100 feet from building.

The only thing I can add to the excellent recommendations above is I would suggest that the CAT cable have a jacket rated for direct burial or flooded burial, as eventually the conduit low spots will have standing water in it. This generally happens when at least one end is out of the ground and...

    Recommendation for renter

Just an FYI, the description of being "static" isn't what allows remote access via WAN it must be "public" (exposed to Internet and accessible via WAN). A non-static or "dynamic" IP can be "public" and remotely accessible via WAN and is generally facilitated by use of a DDNS.

Poor quality cable or rj45 connectors?

Are the problem connectors spec'ed for solid copper? Or are they for stranded and the spikes are missing their mark when crimped? More info below; IMO, the second image of the triple-spike connector is best: https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/rj45-connectors-are-they-all-the-same.76667/#post-856201

    Older building with COAX runs

That's good to know...and there are Mode A and Mode B requirements that must be observed, according to the link. That may or not be an issue depending on the PSE and PD devices used.

My F-150 has one of the less common, but not rare, 36 gallon tanks. Talk about sticker shock back when gas was $4+ a gallon! But a range of 720 miles is kind of nice.

    Positive Vibes thread...

That's in Clayton County, Georgia at the intersection of GA 138 and GA 85. I worked for that county for 2 years 1973 to 1975. It's where I began my 31+ year career in traffic signals. Me, Charlie and Ron installed 12 traffic signals in 13 months in that county. I was a trainee and dug holes and...

Getting access to cameras on TVs not hardwired to NVR?

I'm thinking to try a Amazon FireStick plugged into an HDMI port of the LG. Sideload Tinycam Pro or Onvifer Onvier (Android apps) onto the Firestick and stream the RTSP using channels from the NVR via the FireStick's Wi-Fi. If that works well then on the Sony it's an Android O/S even if Google...

Getting access to cameras on TVs not hardwired to NVR?

Regarding "these other TVs".......are they smart TV's? If so, what brand and/or O/s? Or are they "dumb" with only HDMI inputs? Regarding "It's not possible to connect these other tvs with hard wire...." does this mean you cannot connect them via Ethernet to a network OR with a purpose-built...

I agree. ...and my 2018 3.5L V6 Ecoboost Ford F-150 SuperCrew gets 20.9. Not bad when you consider it wasn't purchased for it's gas economy but for what it could haul, its practicality, etc.

    Older building with COAX runs

FWIW, the OP will need to power the new IP cameras (POE recommended) and I believe MoCA has provisions for data-only. The Empire Tech / Linovision devices that wittaj linked provide data + POE over coax.

Static or DHCP for IP cams?

I use static IP's for my IP cameras. First, I set the DHCP server in my router for a range of 192.168.200.2 to 192.168.200.99 which leaves me with 192.168.200.100 to 192.168.200.255 to use for cameras, printers, etc......155 unique, static IP's for my use is plenty. That leaves 98 IP's for the...

    Local DVR latency issues

Are any of the cams with latency issues have to go through the router to get to the DVR? If so, that could be the problem because the switch portion of many routers are not designed to handle that traffic.
