Web Service Not In Centre of Screen.

Security basically. Too many rogue programmers writing nasty code. Nothing really to do with cameras per se, just the browsers becoming more secure while camera programmers are falling behind.

Looking for indoor Wi-Fi Security Camera's.

@marku2 I ordered one off of Amazon that had no lens information posted and a 4mm arrived. I didn't really care which arrived but now that I've played with it a while I would probably prefer a 2.8mm as a puppy cam in the living room. You'd get more flexible mounting spots where you could see the...

Try Pale Moon browser. It removes a lot of the hassles of the mainstream ones that're removing support for camera plugins.

If you REALLY want to feel shame for laughing, this is probably my all-time favorite bait prank video. Pay attention to the electrodes on the bicycle seat. They get a blast direct to the nuts as well as their hands.

Woman watched entering property, then stopped by me.

Anybody legit or in their right senses would knock, be embarrassed, and ask for gas. I've run out of gas far from a station before. A malfunctioning gauge read 5/8 of a tank when I ran out on the highway but luckily with some farms in sight. The funny part was that I thought that I was getting...

    ALARM.COM

Yes. A PLA will provide network data just like a jack in the back of your router. You'll have to provide power to the cam "after" the PLA though, either via the 12v connector on the cam, a POE injector, or by plugging a POE switch into the PLA and running multiple cams from the switch. The...

Possible Plate? Anyone good enough to "enhance"

Tailgates down reduce fuel mileage by 2% but increase rear lift (decrease traction) by a huge amount on the highway. Dangerous, counterproductive, and leads to a bunch of crap littering the roads from stuff falling out.

Possible Plate? Anyone good enough to "enhance"

It's more like your brain can make sense of complicated moving data and you can sometimes make out different digits at different points in the video. Same thing goes for recognizing faces from moving video. A half-useless smear of a still can come from video that can be reasonably recognizable...

Possible Plate? Anyone good enough to "enhance"

I find a good way to get a plate number from lousy footage is to just watch the footage when it's blown up. The human eye can piece together pixels of video quite well when a given still doesn't really have much info in it. Zoom in and then rock it back and forth and see what you can tell.

Funny- your place doesn't look like a gas station to me. That's almost admitting she was trying to steal gas from you. Pretty lousy excuse for casing your property.

Meh. That one gives a quarter joule per zap. Y'all wanna straighten their hair, curl their toes, cross their eyes and leave them seeing stars. 3.0 joules minimum. The Patriot P30 is Kawboy approved. Don't ask. :) Patriot P30 Dual Purpose Fence Energizer - 3.0 Joule-805153 - The Home Depot

Don't hook up the air horn until you're getting REALLY good video. You want to be able to see them clearly when they crap themselves and start running.

I'd just zoom in more on the mailbox for now. Well, until the next camera order comes in. :) It looks like they're regular customers and a better face shot would do wonders. If you get a plate then the post office should put you on retainer.

Send them a DropBox or YouTube link to the video. Saves them time in their busy day to find out quickly if your video looks actionable and you the time to go in when they may or may not use it because you didn't claim anything significant as stolen. Win-win. Then they can come out later if they...

Install a camera with alarm inputs and use a PIR motion detector. Virtually no more false alarms. Your driveway is an important spot to have reliable alerts.

    Politics without principle

The only way to prevent gun deaths is to remove the guns from everybody, criminals and all. Not possible. After that, education of gun owners and the general public. Then, (but possibly most importantly) remove the stresses from the society that makes them want to shoot each other for whatever...

Maybe keep them but put Dahua IPC-HDB5231R-Z Starlight varifocals in the critical areas. Use the cheapos in other places. More is better but use the good cams where you expect trouble and want a good ID.

How to connect distant cameras from home to the network? (Sketch attached)

Any POE switch will handle 100m. That's the spec. Your remote switch with 5 cameras will be fine if it is a 10/100 switch. (The 100 is Megabits and each cam, depending on quality settings, will probably be 6 Mbits) So will the one with 8 cameras if they both plug into a gigabit router. If...

Relay box key fob signal theft captured on home video

My solution is old fashioned- it's harder to steal a physical key that's inside my house. From what I've seen (mainly my father in law cursing at his), these pushbutton-start cars that just need the key "near" them are too much trouble. And yes, my car is stickshift too. My wife can't steal it...

Relay box key fob signal theft captured on home video

VIDEO: Car Thieves Use New Gadget To Easily Steal Cars - Blue Lives Matter The TL;DR is that there's a scanning box that can steal your keyfob's signal from while you're in your house sleeping and allow crooks to drive off with your pushbutton-start car while your keys are still in your house...

How to connect distant cameras from home to the network? (Sketch attached)

Don't forget that you'll need power in the remote location to power the POE switch. You said that you couldn't add more cables so you might end up trenching in power unless you've got an outlet or existing lighting near your entrance. You can get POE+ powered network switches that feed multiple...

    Upgrade Comcast Router/Modem combo?

Don't bridge something (basically turns off the router and WiFi) unless you've got another router to plug it into or really really don't need WiFi and are only plugging it into a single computer. There's really no real reason to bridge it even then. Just bridge it if you're putting a better...
