    IR light - 5 model comparison

    Always get 850nm if you want the best illumination. 940nm is for stealth at the expense of "light". You'll need a big one to have any hope of clarity at 100ft. Mount high and shoot over the cam's IR. A 60 degree is a decent compromise for spot/flood for a 3.6 mm lens but two big 30s would be better.

    That's the problem with most cameras in "auto" mode. They refuse to speed up the exposure time to enable crisp shots unless it is in bright sunlight. Only then do they work properly. Fast bird, vehicle, or even a person running up close on a cloudy day? Don't expect auto to get the job done...

    @Hbrown 12mm is great for most folks as a mailbox camera, passersby, or maybe for plates. If it's too narrow for the current location just move or aim it somewhere better and put another one up that's a bit wider.
